Are they allowed to do that?
I remember at Rodgers last deal he was kind of mad they had tried to work on some new types of things with the deal, percentage of cap was one, and NFL declined it

I heard a very interesting insider take on why the NFL season isn't going to happen. The NFLPA will require all personnel in contact with players to isolate themselves from society. The NFL is different than most sports, due to the large number of people on the sidelines and in contact with players. Hypothetically, take a team doctor, and most teams have several doctors on their sidelines. These guys aren't full time team drs, but they have their own medical practices and work with the teams on the side. These drs aren't willing to give up their practice for a full NFL season and live in the NFL bubble. I'm sure there are a lot of people involved with teams and the league that won't isolate. In most sports, referees work enough that they don't have other jobs, but as we all know Ed Hochuli was a lawyer in Phoenix, and they all have regular jobs. The league pays officials crap money, and there are how many officials in uniform every game? Plus all the ball boys, down marker guys, guys with giant orange mitts signaling TV timeouts... I don't see how the NFL can keep that many people quarantined. Soccer, you have 4 ball boys and 4 referees on the field, and that's about it.
|
That wouldnt be the reason
They would just pay them more to live in a bubble for 6 months, if that was the issue
Just look at the money involved, they'd be giving up billions in tv money, when you could pay out millions to all those people to get them to quarantine, if it even got to that

The Washington Redskins will officially announce Monday morning that they will be changing their nickname, though no new name will be revealed just yet, a source confirmed Sunday night.
It had been widely expected that Washington would change its name and one source said Saturday night that an announcement of a new name would come soon.

Chiefs managed to get Chris Jones on a multi-yesr deal before today's deadline to get a long term deal done. Jones is one if the top 3 interior defenders in the league. So between him and Mahomes it's a good offseason.

Myles Garrett's contract extension with the Cleveland Browns contains $100 million in total guarantees, the most ever paid to a defensive player, according to league sources, with $50 million guaranteed at signing.
The Browns' star pass-rusher signed the record-setting five-year extension Wednesday. The team did not disclose financial terms, but sources told ESPN that the deal is worth $125 million, with the $25 million average salary also a record for a defensive player.

Yowzer.
Great player though...no question.

Story is out. And so far it's not great, but it's nothing insane like the rumours suggested.

Yeah in the end that was nothing close to the rumours. If even half the rumours were true Snyder might be forced out as owner. It's mostly just a douchy culture you'd expect from a male dominated workplace.

Schneider should have his ownership revoked. Those videos floating around of Jay Gruden certainly aren't flattering. I wonder if he faces discipline.

Seeing some rumours on twitter that the salary cap could decrease by $70M next season. Lot of teams like the Eagles are going to be in major trouble if that happens.

While the video boils down to nothing more than him smoking a joint (this is a league that harshly penalizes players for smoking pot) at a team party and hitting on a young girl it does fit right in with the allegations being made against the team;

Just reported today that there will be no exhibition games this year. It was expected, but confirmed today by the NFLPA. Definitely the right move, but I feel for all the UDFA's..will be interesting how that plays itself out.

Looks like we might have the NFL's Donald Sterling situation, ironically, with another lesser, extremely poorly run team in a massive market. Jets fans have hope again!
