Been meaning to do this video for a while now as he was a personal favourite of mine despite only one season with Calgary (The Irish God of War!).
I recall Rob Kerr saying at the time that he had heard from a referee that Owen Nolan was the meanest hockey player he had ever seen. I think he showed a lot of that here, even at 36 years old. His 3 fights were all monstrous as he beat up Stortini, Grier, and Voros.
He also had a knack for some pretty goals, with some good chemistry with Huselius. Finally, while the playoff series vs SJ is probably one of the most painful from that era because we should have won overall, but we especially should have won game 7. Kipper really struggled that series unfortunately. Nolan had a great series though no surprise.
The Monahan 10 OT Winners video is next, and should be done later this week hopefully.

I don't think I have ever seen a defenseman single-handedly cost his team a playoff series the way Anders Eriksson did for the Flames in that game 7.

You don't show Nolan grinding his stick in Stortini's face as storts is sitting on the ice trying to get back up.
Man I loved 'Ol grey beard. The kinda player I hope Ferland could become. Not even the 40 goal prowess but the tough as nails part don't take a game off attitude.
The team had a lot of talent between 07-09. I don't know how they didn't do more with what they had.
Injuries in 08/09 no question.
- Phaneuf broken ribs
- Sarich fractured ankle
- Warrener, Gio, and Regehr all missed the entire series
- Conroy, Bourque, and Langkow all playing through injuries as well.

Loved ON11 when he was here. He's the exact type of player the Flames could use today.
That's the edge some of us hoped Bennett would play with. Maybe he still wll. He'd have to get a lot better at stopping short of a penalty.
That said, Tkachuk is not far off.

I still claim to this day if the blue line was healthy that series against Chicago that they woulda taken those Blackhawks punks out behind the woodshed and then who knows what woulda happened.
