Adding to JG to get Couturier would rival the worst trades in franchise history
You guys are mad because JG isn't up to his usual standards...well newsflash Couturier isn't having a great season thus far either

A top seed in a conference that wound up losing in crushing fashion to the Avs, so, not that great I guess?

I think the Caps are a good team and Flames played them evenly. Would be nice to get on a run though.

Small and talented winger saddled with a center that's not overly fast or a great setup man. He's being asked to do too much IMO. If he ever goes to a team with a center that drives the play and distributes the puck he's could win the Art Ross.

1st round KO. Team is looking very mediocre so far, but let's wait until 25 games.

Team is having trouble scoring, lets trade the guy in on most of the goals

So perfect time to offer up Monahan in a center for center trade.

Developing a lindy-tkachuk duo is best for the flames long term. Time to break up line 1

The Flames were the better team in this game, but the Caps got a couple fortunate bounces. That allowed them to play with the lead and trap the game down in the 3rd.
Sometimes #### happens. But you don't trade half the roster afterwards.

I do agree that it may be time to break up the 1st line for a prolonged period of time. Things just look stale.

I would find away to add another high end winger so the other team can't just focus on one line. Totally different game if Czar scores the tap in empty net from Chucky

Yep. Unpopular opinion here but Monahan is not 1st line center material.

Meh, whatever. This is just typical October Flames hockey. I'm still not too worried yet. They played a good game tonight for the most part, and if not for the two brain farts by Talbot, they could have easily won.
The offence is obviously snakebitten, which is frustrating. But they'll come out of it. This is a roster that scored 289 goals last season. Just keep playing the right way and the goals will come.
It felt like Ovi's goal was the real back breaker in this one, especially coming 10 seconds after the Flames had tied the game and had all the momentum. No doubt that goal took the wind out of their sails.

Maybe but I don't know if Monahan and Backlund are good enough down the middle. They have been the top two centers for years now and outside of last season the team has largely spun their wheels. I don't think the magic of last season will return to the top line as after a hot first half of the season last year they have settled into what they are which is a good but not great first line.

It was such a stupid move, in my opinion, by the flames to not even try lindholm at center for a single frigin shift all preseason.
These genius coaches put dube on the top line, all kind of fairly tale line combos in the name of 'assessing talent' yet, they didn't try lindholm at C.
We're 15% into the season. No line has any real chemistry, and defensive woes aside, the so called flames forward depth is a punch line. Ryan, Jankowski, Frolik, Bennett, mangiapane, czarnik, reider all look like decent 13th forwards on an nhl roster, in my opinion.
