Capitals 5, Flames 3
John Carlson out-Norris'd Giordano.
Not a bad effort, but close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades. Need more guys to finish their plays, especially early in games when they had them on the ropes.

Frustrating, frustrating game. Flames played alright, but couldn't bury our chances, and a couple of fluky garbage goals against us. UGH!
5-5-1 in OCT, just like last year I think. Typical.
This team needs an injection. The 2nd line needs an offensive upgrade.

Meh. Flames were the better team for the majority of the time until the Caps started trapping and shut it down defensively in the 3rd. Sucks to lose but outside a horrible Talbot goal and a flukey deflection off a skate, Flames could’ve had this one. At least they’re playing much better. Didn’t actually think Talbot was that bad outside that first goal. Good enough performance for a backup. Sure wish the top line would start taking things over, need more than 1 goal from them. Regroup for Thursday and it’ll be nice to have Rittich back in net. 5-5-1, identical record after 11 games as last year. Plenty of time to turn it around.

I have to agree with the poster in the gdt. I think Tre made a huge error in not closing the deal on the stone trade.

Flames started 5-5-1 last year
Wonder how that turned out?

This team is so offensively challenged they have to scratch and claw for every goal so spotting the opposition an unearned two goal lead is simply too much to overcome. There's no margins for error when your opponents are opportunistic and you are not. It seems like everything has to go right for this team to win a game and IMO that's telling of a team that just isn't good enough.
This isn't going to be popular but I'm kind starting to believe Monahan isn't the answer at 1st line center. This guy just doesn't move the needle enough. It seems like the first line has been essentially Gaudreau, Lindholm, and passenger.

we don't even know what the deal/contract would have been...hard to say. Have to make at least 10M of room and Vegas has one more point than Calgary.
Do need to upgrade the top six though...poor Chucky

Imagine this team with kadri and stone instead of what we have...
Pipe dream I know but that makes us a contender not the pretenders we are

Weak links:
Janko (I REALLY hate typing that), Frolik (Not a good way to go into your FA), Mangipane (Effort is there, he is just getting owned by the league physically).
D corps has softened after being the rock solid bright spot to start the season.

They don’t look hopeless like they did in the first 5 games of the year
I’m going to wait a lot longer before panicking

Team is very stale and unimaginative.
I think we made a huge mistake in the off season not making a major shake up. Sticking with a core that got embarrased last year just isnt working.
Yet again we have also failed to get a bonafide nhl caliber goalie also

The annual late-October home loss to the Caps is done. Now it's time for that sweet November turn-around.

With Rieder and Czarnik scoring tonight, it's down to Lucic and Jankowski: who will remain goalless for longest? I can hardly wait to find out!

Chucky has been aside from one game almost our worst top 5 player (not gonna lump the 6th guys into that)
