icon57 Brock Otten reviews the Flames OHL prospects

A pretty good write up from a guy who watches a lot of OHL hockey. He was dead on in predicting Smith's 2014-2015 season last year.

I fully expect him to be an early Calder trophy candidate.

He could definitely hit the 70 point marker and be a candidate for OHL defender of the year.
Mangiapane

Mangiapane could be a contender for the OHL scoring race and he could break 110 points IMO.

We have some kick ass depth.

Articles like this help me actually understand just how much. It's awesome.

Mangiapane is a very intriguing prospect. Put up great numbers in the OHL but wasn't drafted until really late. Did his size really drop him that far?

Sort of funny how all three of their 100+ points player on Barrie are 6th round draft picks.

Is there anything similar about Mangiapane to Gaudreau skill wise?

I think maybe we're so high on him because of the possibility of having Gaudreau 2.0

His hands looked a little gaudreau-esque to me from cagedgreat's videos.

He's a longshot, but a good guy from a good family. It'll be nice pulling for the kid.

According to the article, he put up a large portion of his points on the PP. But it also says be displayed the ability to score 5-5. I would guess the PP points and his overage status probably concerned teams.

Good flier to take. Never know when you'll find another Gaudreau or Tyler Johnson.

I like this article and happy to see a previous poster mention that this writer does good work. I had not heard of him. What I liked is that it gave a balanced perspective and didn't talk about every prospect as if they had world beating skills. Equal attention was given to areas for improvement and then some very explicit predictions.

Certainly looks like a solid crop of OHL prospects.
