Late Summer Reverse Standings Poll - 30th
With camp around the corner, free agency behind us, ... where will bottom feeders finish next season?
Edmonton is always likely ... Vancouver swan dived, the Sabres adding veterans, Florida did the same but over paid ... the Islanders also added depth.
Where will they finish?

I went with Arizona ... had Calgary on the mind, but I just don't see the combination of the team caring so much, and the three headed snake of Buckland, Brodie and Giordano letting that happen.
Arizona ... no fan pressure, team in disarray

Even though the Sabres signed Moulson, Gionta and acquired Gorges, three guys will not get them out of the worst spot. Their goaltending looks atrocious too, that's what essentially made my decision of Calgary over Buffalo. They also lost Ehrhoff.

I went with Ottawa. They literally have nobody that's good on that team.

I would guess an unexpected team from the States that stumbles with some bad luck and then just goes full tank. Maybe Nashville. Not on the list so Carolina is my guess.
Ottawa Sens so bad they get listed twice?

Perhaps a bit of a longshot, but I think Carolina will be bad.

I think Buffalo, Ottawa, Florida, and somehow Edmonton all have a good chance at being worse than Calgary.
Winnipeg and Ottawa are on there twice.

The Sabres model: http://www.wgr550.com/JW-The-Sabres-Model/19008663
They will be tough to beat for last place this season.
It remains to be seen if they can develop their players correctly, which they will need if they want to be "dominant" by 2020 like it says in the article.

Even after parachuting in a few vets, that Buffalo roster still looks terrible.

It was a toss up between Arizona and Buffalo for me. Arizona lost virtually all of its offense with Ribiero and Vrbata now gone.
Although their prospect cupboard looks pretty good. Maybe some kids will help them out.

I went a little outside the box and went Winnipeg.
Defense and goaltending are still shaky (goaltending is terrible).
They lack game breakers on offense, they are weaker at center ice this year than last (losing Jokinen), plus I think the distraction of making no moves, increased pressure from the fan base, and with Kane/Buff potentially being unhappy there could be a potential distraction in the team.
Plus all of their division got better IMO.

Arizona is still coached by Tippet always out performs his teams potential on paper. I can't see them being worse than Calgary or Edmonton.

It's the Senators for me (they're listed twice, as others have mentioned)...I just don't see game breakers other than Karlsson...gonna be a long year in Ottawa.

Buffalo's roster is just bad and they are committed to losing so they will likely start with a lot of rookies in the lineup and avoid any moves that will improve the team from here on out.

I voted Buffalo still, but I totally had a "God dammit" moment the other day when I realized that the Coyotes could end up with McDavid or Eichel. That is a bad team, and I could smell another Crosby lottery situation for a hurting team the league wants to bolster.

Buffalo's roster > our roster, especially when you take into consideration the fact that they play in the Eastern conference rather than the West. In the East, we'll see points much more spread out, whereas in the West the top 8 teams will absolutely bury the rest of the conference.
I think Calgary and Arizona are going to get absolutely destroyed by Anaheim, Colorado, St. Louis, Chicago, Los Angeles, Minnesota, San Jose and Dallas.

I think Calgary and Arizona are going to get absolutely buried this season.

Our goaltending is better than Buffalo's though. Which is pretty major since we're both going to get shelled every night. Our top pairing is also better than what Buffalo can put together.

This is so clear and easy. How could it be anyone else but the Edmonton Oilers?
