This could be epic if they give it to a credible director and not George Lucas

Let the Pixar guys do this and keep Georgie out of it, and the franchise is saved.

Give Star Wars to Chris Nolan please. Everything he's touched so far is gold.

Can you imagine what Peter Jackson could do with Star Wars?

Lucas got way too focused on CGI. Jackson's Lord of the Rings blended CGI perfectly with live action and miniature models. That's what kind of vision Star Wars needs.

Can we just redo episodes 1-3 and forget that the current ones ever existed?

Lucas' major failing is in his inability to write cohesive movies that make sense and maintain a consistent narrative.

For example, It wasn't the CGI that made Jar Jar binx bad, it was the IDEA that made him bad.

A live action series on HBO based on Knight of the Old Republic would be amazing.

No.
Peter Jackson is incapable of telling a story in a single movie. Look at what happend when he tried to cap off Return of the King... It ended up being the most drawn out thing I've ever seen.

Star Wars Episode 7 shouldn't and probably won't be, a single movie. Hopefully it's an epic three movie arc. It's a moot point though, I doubt Jackson will do it.
