The E3 Thread
E3 is upon us once again! The magical time of year where developers take time out of their busy schedules to display what their working on to salivating gamers who in a few short months will ironically bitch about how the games don't have enough polish. Next to the release of the NHL games in September this is one of my favorite times of the year. Anybody man enough (woman enough ... geeky enough) to celebrate with me?
Schedule of important things:
Microsoft Press Conference: June 1, 10:30 am Pacific (11:30 am Flames Time)
Nintendo Press Conference: June 2, 9:00 am Pacific (10:00 am Flames Time)
Sony Press Conference: June 2, 11:00 am Pacific (12:00 pm Flames Time)
Will the 360 announce a shooting game? Will Nintendo find a new innovative way to waggle a remote? Will Sony answer the complaints of nobody and finally fix that pesky issue with the PS3 being too expensive thick?
Let's do this.

I was going to start a E3 thread. Video game nerds rejoice!
Looking forward to big announcements from Microsoft and Sony. Could care less about Nintendo these days.

I hope Nintendo doesn't field that crazy lady from last year to do the press conference. I don't think I could take getting talked down to like a 9 year old again.
Is it just me, or does that list of games have an almost silly amount of sequel numbers attached to it?

UPDATE:
Crytek announces Crysis 2 for consoles and PC
Today EA and Crytek announced Crysis 2 for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC.
The next instalment of Crysis will be the first game built on Crytek's CryENGINE 3 and will be released for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC. EA will publish the game.
"The development of Crysis 2 marks a major stepping stone for our studio," said Cevat Yerli, CEO and President of Crytek.
"This is not only the next game in the Crysis franchise, it’s the first title we are developing for consoles and the first title being built on CryENGINE 3. We are excited to have the support of EA Partners again as we work together to make the launch of Crysis 2 a huge event."
Following the announcement of CryENGINE 3 for consoles, it was inevitable that Crytek's next game would be for multiple platforms, but it wasn't obvious that it would be Crysis 2.
"Nothing speaks more to the success of the EA Partners program than when a studio the calibre of Crytek continues to work with us," said David DeMartini, Senior Vice President and General Manager of EA Partners.
"Crytek is already one of the elite PC development studios in the world and we are excited to have the opportunity to partner with them in bringing their award-winning technology and gameplay to more platforms and a wider audience with Crysis 2."
As soon as we hear more about Crysis 2 we'll let you know.

Modern Warfare 2 launch will be massive, expect lots of DLC
During an E3 remarks event moments ago, Activision Blizzard said the November launch of Infinity Ward’s Modern Warfare 2 will be the largest entertainment launch of any kind when it launches this November. Prior to that remark, the company also made clear it will be more aggressive on downloadable content in the future. No details were given but it’s safe to say with the massive success the recent World at War DLC, we can expect those maps to keep rolling in.

This has me interested. Was there more information available at this time or is this something that is going to be saved until Sony's talk?

Although there's been a bajillion Final Fantasy games, as a JRPG junkie and a Squenix junkie, I still get pretty excited hearing about all the FFXIII games coming out. I wish it would be sooner so I can have an excuse to splurge on buying a PS3.
I guess I can just play it on my 360 when it comes out, but the feel of the controller for me just isn't right. And yes, I would buy a PS3 just to play FF13 even though I already have an Xbox360 just to play it on a PS controller. I'm kind fo weird that way.

Updates:
Mark Rein confirmed to Eurogamer that Epic definitely will announce a new game at E3 this week.
“Yes we will have something new to announce at E3,” said Rein, before apologizing that he couldn’t say anything more until the event.
BBC’s Darren Waters said today that the mystery PlayStation 3 title he was shown behind closed doors last year “might” be shown during Sony’s E3 conference tomorrow.
“I’m also led to believe that a game I was shown more than a year ago now, and got me quite excited, might, just might, be unveiled at this E3,” he wrote on his blog.
“And I’ve also been told that the game has changed enormously since I first saw it…”
Sir Paul is the big surprise, ROCKBAND:BEATLES to be demo....
# Microsoft’s press event later today will be star-filled. Tony Hawk will be there to demo (big shock here) “Tony Hawk Ride”. The big news is Microsoft’s surprise guest who will kick off the conference. I don’t want to ruin the surprise, but I will say the guest musical in nature – and is likely to “Help!” demo a hotly anticipated game from Harmonix.

Hope “God of War 3” isn’t on your holiday wish list. Despite widespread assumptions that the game is due this year, word now is that it has been pushed to 2010 (as has the next “Gran Turismo”). We may get official confirmation of this tomorrow at Sony’s press conference.

From Joystiq comes word that the DLC for “Batman: Arkham Asylum” that will allow PS3 owners to play as the Joker will be free. That’s a nice incentive for players and could give the PS3 version the upper hand when the game comes out later this year

GAME UPDATE:
DANTE’S INFERNO
Key Features
• An Epic Adaptation of a Classic – Based on part one of Dante Alighieri’s classic poem “The Divine Comedy,” Dante’s Inferno is a 3rd person action adventure game that takes Dante on an epic journey through Hell as he seeks to rescue the soul of his beloved Beatrice.

Each circle features distinct environments, enemies and story elements befitting the sins committed by their inhabitants.
