The other thing you can do to try it out if you have a 3 burner or larger bbq is to just use one burner on low with the grates off and put tin foil packs of wood chips. You also need a digital thermometer with a cable that you can hang in the bbq and read temp from the outside.

Temp control is challenging and sealing up smoke leak points is annoying but it gives good results to see if you are interested in bbqing. I’ve done ribs, tenderloins, and sous vide/smoke combos using this method

Feels great to be back in Cape Breton after 2 long years. Can't wait to go to the ocean tomorrow.

Swinging in a hammock with seagulls yammering on about some bull####. Ocean sounds and salt air.

Because of self isolation we had to get a trailer but it's actually quite nice. Loving life on Mira Gut (Bay). I miss having full summers of lake life in Winnipeg but this will do for now.

It's raining lightly here, and I have the window open. The smell of the rain is fantastic.

Grill pipes are made for this purpose and cost approximately $20.00
I looked it up and Canadian tire has them.

Finally buying a house and moving in RMMH. With a wife and 2 kids going from a 900 sqft condo to a 2300 sqft house (w/ finished basement), this is me right now

What doesn't make me happy however is looking at the bill for all the new furniture we've been buying

Decided to bring my bonus room TV down to the basement where I use it a lot more, and swap the 55" up to their. They're both Vizio P 2018 models. I didn't love how small the 55 was in the bonus room so I thought I'd try and flip it and buy a 65" on open box. Well, as it so happens my bedroom TV (also a Vizio P) has been giving me weird artifacting and I did the warranty thing this morning. They're sending me a 65" 2019 model as replacement since the 2018 isnt available. So I don't have to spend a nickel!

Now I'm just thinking about flipping this 65" for a 75.

They still warranty their TV's, and, I imagine if they didn't Costco would have just given me a refund.

edit:Side note, my friend in BC just bought the same model TV as me at Costco in Kamloops for 800 bucks. So they're still around.

But I do notice on the website they don't have it anymore. That said it's not the end of the world; Hi-Sense and TCL are great value brands they produce incredible imagine quality. The TCL6 is a hair below the Vizio P, and the Hi Sense G or Q9 is on par with the Vizio for same price.

edit2: the warranty exchange was with vizio not costco

this morning we had the "meet our son's kindergarten teacher" meeting at his school.

i can't describe how proud i was as a dad when i warned the teacher that any 'mention of' or 'picture of' the canucks or oilers would likely result in either a "BOOOOOOOOOOO" or "YUCKY" from our little guy! ha! ha!

he had to draw/colour on a recipe card that has his name on it (i think it's for his desk?). so he proudly used red/yellow/white/black. i'm just so happy!!

#### Yeah, Good On Ya ####s

Fri., Sept. 11, 2020timer3 min. read
On Saturday, after seeing himself on the front page of the Toronto Star, Leymo Mohammed had an exciting thought: What if The Wiggles read my story?

It was a very Leymo kind of question. The Star article was about his harrowing experience losing his mom, Bontu Abdulahi, to COVID-19 in May. Abdulahi was a personal support worker, 44-year-old immigrant from Ethiopia, and fiercely devoted single mom to her two kids, Biftu, 13, and Leymo, 17.

In the Star article, Leymo pays tribute to the woman who showed him unwavering love and support, especially when he struggled with his autism. But any conversation with Leymo has a tendency to veer towards The Wiggles, and his interviews with the Star were no exception. “Do you think the article will mention the Wiggles?” he asked the reporter on more than one occasion.

Even though it’s still really warm here today I feel in a fall cooking mood. I don’t cook that much in the summer so I look forward to crock pot season. Just made a red wine beef stew, looking forward to dinner tonight.

Summer is Crock pot season.

Doesn't heat up the house, set it and forget it so you can go out and enjoy the great weather.

Carnitas, Pulled Pork, Butter Chicken, etc....

Nah, heavier meals, stews, chili, dal’s etc., meals I consider comfort foods, I prefer to make in the fall/winter, thus the crock pot.
