For Kuch that double yesterday was what will hurt the most, really his only mistake the entire weekend. Jordan got a big break and he took advantage, more than anything that 20 minute break allowed him to calm down and get re-focused. Titleist owes him a raise on his deal now with all that free advertising he gave them.

so, question for the Canadian Open:

1) Who will be the highest finishing Canadian?

My heart says De Laet, but my money would be on Hughes.

2) Should they give a Sponsor's Exemption to Brooke Henderson next year?
(I say, yes)

List of Canadians is from the Canadian Open Website:

Quote:
13 Canadians to compete for National Men’s Open Title…

World no. 54 Adam Hadwin of Abbotsford, B.C., will lead a 13-member Canadian contingent into Canada’s national Open championship. The 29-year old is in the midst of his finest season with a win at the Valpsar Championship and a 59 at the CareerBuilder Challenge. Hadwin will be joined by fellow recent PGA TOUR winners Mackenzie Hughes of Dundas, Ont. and Nick Taylor of Abbotsford, B.C. as well fellow Canadian fan favourites Graham DeLaet of Weyburn, Sask., David Hearn of Brantford, Ont., Brad Fritsch of Manotick, Ont. and Canadian Golf Hall of Fame member Mike Weir of Brights Grove, Ont.

Other Canadians confirmed include Jared du Toit, the 22-year old Team Canada member played in the final pairing at the 2016 RBC Canadian Open. The Calgary native returns to Glen Abbey as a professional hoping to recapture the magic that made him the story of last year’s championship. Team Canada National Amateur Squad members Hugo Bernard of Mont St-Hilaire, Que., the reigning Canadian Men’s Amateur champion along with Austin James of Bath, Ont., will also compete.

Former Team Canada member Garrett Rank of Elmira, Ont., has earned his third consecutive RBC Canadian Open exemption by winning his third straight Canadian Men’s Mid-Amateur Championship. PGA of Canada professional Bryn Parry of Vancouver earned his way into the 2017 RBC Canadian Open by claiming the No. 1 position on the PGA of Canada Player Rankings presented by RBC, while former Team Canada member Matt Hill of Brights Grove, Ont., won the 144-player Ontario Regional Qualifier to earn an exemption.

1) Why Hughes? Hadwin's had the best year this year, and Delaet's seems like he's the hottest at the moment. I think I'd go with Hadwin.

2) Sounds good to me. How does her distance compare to other women who've played on the men's tour?

So what's the Canadian open like on the PGA tour? Is it like the main stop this week, or is it like one of those secondary ones you only kind of hear about?

it's a main stop but a lot of players skip it.

It's the only stop this week but because it follows the British Open most of the big names skip the Canadian Open. Unless they are sponsored by RBC who compel them to show up. One of the reasons they rarely move the tournament out west is it is already tough enough to get players to play with a 5 time zone change (GMT -5), 7 or 8 time zones cuts down on the potential big name competitors even more.

I think Hughes has been eyeing the playoffs since his win earlier. This is his first tourney in a few weeks and he's got a plan to build up for a run into the playoffs.

Just a gut thing.

I hope DeLeat pulls through here. He's so close to winning.

1) Hughes will be the top Canuck. Hadwin's last competitive round wasn't very good.

2) No. It's a different game.

Are crowds for the Canadian Open always this dismal? Glen Abbey already looks pretty amateurish on TV (I know it's great in real life) compared to a lot of the opens, but the quiet, sparse crowds just add to the "blah" atmosphere. Really comes off second rate.

Damnit, I read this not looking at when it was posted!

Still though, tied for sixth is great, too bad it's a full five strokes off the lead, but hopefully he can chip away and get a nice top five or even top three finish.

Gotta love where golf coverage has gone. Hadwin's in 6th place and we'll be lucky to see him take a single shot. Nothing yet since I started watching.

Unfortunately Rory MclLroy will get the coverage over Adam with the same score because of the caddie storyline.

Hadwin finishes strong tied for fifth. It's a very passable field tomorrow, too. Hopefully he can step up.

Well, such is golf. Early on and everyone around Hadwin has stepped up huge today and he's already made a bogey and is already falling down the leaderboard.

What a tough sport to compete in. I didn't follow golf during Tiger Wood's heyday but I can only imagine the level of dominance he exuded to be that successful.

PGA Championship moving to May in 2019, to be 2nd major instead of 4th.

It feels pretty crowded into the schedule right now, even in a non-olympic year, sandwiched between the Open/WGC weeks and the playoff weeks.

Any chance the Canadian open could utilize this change to get out of the week after the Open?

Nice seeing the Players move back to March. It was a better event when it kicked off the season as the first sort of major tournament.

Delaet got a lot of coverage today at the PGA championship. And he is right in it at -1 on a very tough Quail Hollow. Curious to see how the course is prepared in the following days- kind of getting a US Open vibe where conditions will only get tougher each consecutive day. Wonder if the PGA of America is kind of playing off the general disappointment with this years US Open and intentionally making the final major championship very tough. Crazy to see how high the scores were for a lot of quality players.

Maybe I am a little out of touch with pro golf these days but that is a very unexciting leaderboard so far for the PGA.
