Unless a team coveted Poirier in his draft year I also do not see him being claimed. He has had one decent pro season and looked like a fish out of water in his NHL stints.

Telus website says Centre Ice is on free preview Oct 4-11th but in past seasons I think it was free for preseason too.

There is zero chance Poirier gets claimed, is this seriously even a question?

Paul Byron was 26 when he got claimed. Poirier is 22 and while I think he is not getting claimed I wouldn't be shocked if a team that coveted him in the draft might consider taking a chance? The kid had a great start to his pro careeer and his step back is for a specific reason which has been rectified. If an NHL team believes in him and has room in their forward ranks they may take a chance?

Really the only teams I would think even consider it would be the Habs/Sens (watched him a lot in jr and the Habs were rumored to like him at the draft) or the Canucks (Weisbroad)

Having said all of that is is unlikely he gets claimed and the Flames probably waive him tomorrow

Take a look at the no names no one knows or wants in the waiver thread from around the league, now add Poirier to that list and it becomes just as unknown.

Excited to see 17/18 Matthew Tkachuk for the first time.

I hope he looks more like the Tkachuk that started last season rather than the one who finished it. Flames need some #### disturbing.

Agreed it's unlikely but if Hudon is ineffective tonight and the rest of the Habs stink it up while icing close to a regular season line up, what does Bergevin have to lose? Bergevin has not had a good summer.

If they put Poirier up he will be claimed probably by the Canucks especially since they are pretty happy with getting Granlund and Baertschi. I would rather see him traded to Montreal first

Hoping that was just a lineup assumption... as I believe that whoever is playing with Stone tonight, is most definitely starting the season as our #6.

Pretty much no chance Poirier is claimed. His career went off he rails recently an there's no indication he's anywhere near NHL ready. No team is going to waste an NHL roster spot on him IMO

fyp

there are still 3 games left, so making assumptions about the regular season, based on tonight's lineup, is beyond premature

fyi Shaw subscribers in BC with basic TSN package (TSN 1) *should* be able to view the game on mobile devices using the TSN Go app (via TSN 3). This probably doesn't make sense to a lot of folks, and no guarantee it will actually work. Fingers crossed.

This is way too many long shot try outs at this stage of the preseason. I for one was hoping like the Jets are doing, we'd be icing close to the NHL lineup by this game. The full lineup needs to GE before the season starts, not during the first week of the actual season.

Yeah, but I'm guessing this is it for auditions and we get straight down to the team and the final couple battles for the last two playoff games.

I know last pre-season sucked, but there has to be some competition and some tryouts. Having the basic lineup for the last two games should be fine.

Just flipping around the dial here...

Chicago - Boston: is on

Toronto - Montreal: blacked out

Jersey - Ottawa: is on

can anyone explain the logic of this to me?
