Watch Canadian Tire. They have them on sale every once in a while. Not too sure if they're the discontinued models, although I'm not sure owning the newest model year vacumm is of huge concern.

Also, Costco usually sells them with an accessory kit for what you pay for just the vacuum elsewhere.

Futureshop usually sells them with a free accessories kit as well. I bought mine on boxing day with 150 off + the free accessories kit. The kit sells for 180 MSRP.

Pro-tip:
If you want the best customer service at a big-box retailer, pick up a Dyson and try and walk around the store with it. They're flagged as high-theft items pretty much anywhere, and you'll have an employee at your side asap, haha.

Go to Sears and buy a Kenmore for 200 to 300 bucks and save lots of money, for an equal or better vacuum. Or spend more than $600 and get a Dyson, for pretty much no reason at all. Or go Central.

I've got a Kenmore... it sucks... and I don't mean in a good way.

If you want to talk about a waste of money you are better to toss the 300 bucks down the toliet and live with a dirty house as no vacuum is about as effective as a Kenmore.

Guys, you're just going to cause him to spout off about a central vac again.

Can we have a moment to pay hommage to the Dyson Air Blade, the greatest hand dryer of all time? (Sorry Xlerator, 2nd place)

I know it's not as good as Central hand drying systems, but I want one of these in my house one day.

I married a dutch girl. We bought a Kenmore. Since about the 1st week we had the Kenmore I wished we had a better vacuum. Since she is dutch, she is cheap, and has rubbed off on me. Why buy a new vacuum when the current one we have isn't broken? I want to buy a Dyson. Broke the Kenmore a couple of times and when she asked if I can fix it I responded with a sigh and a reluctant yes.

On topic: we had central vac and then went hardwood so got a dyson. Without a doubt, the dyson "blows" the CV away. Had CV system removed...

I assume the Kenmore statement was supposed to be green text....

I bought my dad a Dyson floor model from Future Shop, only $349. They had a few more there for $349-$499 if anyone else is looking for a Dyson.

Bumping old thread for advice from current Dyson owners.

Is there a significant difference between the "ball" and "wand" models? We have dogs so I'm thinking the wand one might be better so we can do things like couch, etc with accessories.

We have mostly hardwood floors with a few good size area rugs. We do have central-vac, but it sucks and not in a good way.

Where in Calgary would be best place to buy? Not necessarily just for price (though I am Dutch, LOL) but for customer service; I wouldn't mind trying one or two.

Thanks in advance.

I have the Ball and the rechargeable wand. Really for a whole house I would get the ball. We use the wand for kitchen and spot cleaning. The battery lasts only about 10 mins on normal suction and 5 for Max power. Plus the suction is no where near as good. Works very well for a dust buster, but it is limited.

They are both awesome products but the ball is best for whole house by far.

Dyson's are mediocre. It's all about trendy marketing hype, similar to the previous references to Apple. I installed a central vac and gave the dyson away. There's no replacement for displacement.
