Predators General Manager David Poile announced Thursday that defenseman Ryan Ellis is expected to miss several months due to recovery from offseason surgery to repair a lower-body ailment.

Poile is hopeful Ellis will be able to return around the start of the new year.

Maybe the flames will have the best D corps for the rest of 2017. I think us and Nashville are pretty close in D calibre, but with Ellis out I think we pass them for now

Let them play a game first before we say best D corps etc. Everything always looks good on paper lets see it translate on the ice. Don't want a repeat of 2009.

Well we have seen two incredible pairings of: Gio/Hamilton and Brodie/Stone

Brodie/Hamonic I think is the plan but it sure is nice to know that if that pairing poops the bed, Stone can step in easily and provide stability.

Now I'd love to find out how close the oilers are to signing Franson only to have Franson go back to play with the Preds. I think he'd be a decent stop gap guy.

It's likely a contributing reason for them trading for Emelin.
