Benning is a goner for sure. Way too much smoke

NRD (NHL Rumors Daily) on Twitter has been speculating the Canucks have interest in Gorton as well

Crazy Benning and Treliving both hired months apart and potentially getting fired shortly.

Both have had relatively the same amount of success and failures.

IIRC both were also in the running for Buffalo. Which is funny as well.

I used to think that Benning was a complete travesty as a GM, bleeding one draft pick and asset after another while losing every trade, and yet after 7 years, his Canucks record is about equivalent, if not superior, to BT's work.

He's somehow got the Canucks a good young core with a #1C, and potential young #1D and G. The Flames have... a #1 LW or two.

Canucks have won 1 series, the same as the Flames, but it came last season against the defending champs. The Flames won 1 series 6 years ago against a pathetic Canucks team.

Even with the Canucks' terrible present day state I'd prefer their core over ours in the short and medium term.

Really puts the Flames' futility into perspective.

I hope they have good business minds for the game and they are interviewed properly. I've never understood giving managerial positions to hockey players unless management knows they could excel at the role.

Oh yeah, the Flames are the worst contending team in the league. The rest that are below were expected to be below. The only other disappointments are the Flyers and Stars.

Vancouver peaked early last year with a playoff run, then lost their goalie to FA. So they're nowhere close now.

I’m somewhat amused that you can’t separate them even after they are done playing. I get the “twin connection” when they play on a line. But this is kind of different.

Not sure what to expect for a timeline of announcements from the Canucks, but word tonight is Jim Benning was given indication in the last 24 hours that he is to return.

Friedman confirmed that ownership told Benning that he will be back as GM next year.

Great news for Flames fans!

The 'Nucks look increasingly like the tire fire to the north of Calgary, it can only be a matter of time that I start seeing dress shoes and sweat pants being worn on Granville Street

It’s one thing they played a game together on the same team. There was obviously some natural chemistry that was to the advantage of the Canucks.

But with a real job, you should kind of be able to do that without your sibling. Suppose it’s probably not a real job.
