Seattle mock drafts out there have the Kraken taking Lucic.
As much as he's grown into his role that woukd be great for us and open up a lot of flexibility to do things
This has to be computer generated and just working off of points. I bet they have Gio protected, Tanev available but Lucic going because 22 points > 11 points.
I only care about the arena at this point. If the Flames fumble that away I think I'm officially done with the team. I fully admit I'd jump on the bandwagon if they were to go on a run, but I wouldn't really care to follow them otherwise. To be frank, I haven't watched more than 10 games this year. Even at the beginning I just found myself bored watching games and not giving a crap. My passion for the Flames and hockey in general is at an all time low. With our first child arriving in July I assume it will drop to next to nothing. They need to do something major next year to regain my interest.

Ive been having the same feeling. Its been a really hard 25 years of being a fan. 3(ish) good years out of that whole span is rough. Ive been mulling over the idea of jumping ship to The Kraken. If its ever going to happen this is the year to do it. Ive been trying to find some silver linings to this organization, but I'm not living in YYC anymore, so going to games isnt a thing unless I go see them somewhere else, the team is embarrassingly mediocre, and there is no realy superstar to get excited about...like Johnny once was.
Glass half full guys like Kopitar and Getzlef were picked up in the draft in the 10-20 spot and Thornton was picked up in a trade. There's still hope for the Flames if they can channel some of the Cali team mgmt sense and get a stud to build around. Hopefully Daryl will recommend some savvy folks from his Kings days. There's still a path to a good team here with out bottoming out with less Coyotes brain trust and more Cali ideals.

I can see a case for the Kraken taking Lucic.
- They do have to get to the Salary floor, which means that higher priced contracts will have to be picked.
- Lucic has a cap hit (if Seattle took him from us) of $5.25m, but they would only have to pay him $3.9375 million x 2 years. If they want to save some money, they could. He only has $9 million left in salary and bonuses, of which 12.5% is being paid by the Oilers.
- they need some leadership and vets. Lucic has been decent in that role.

The floor is not a factor IMO. It’s just not hard to make it, with a lot more cost effective players. $4M cash is still a fair bit for Lucic. And if both he and Gio are available, I take Gio all day long.

Without Lucic, this is the softest team in the NHL.
We need him.
