Hopefully that is the reason for the brutal season and he can bounce back next year

For someone who plays such a soft game, he sure gets injured a lot.

Ouch. That explains a lot. Hopefully it goes well and he recovers fully.

Ah, so that’s why they played him with Ritchie.

Couldn’t skate full speed

Fix him up and ship him out. As mentioned above, there is always something wrong it seems and he will never be 100% healthy. He is of no use to the Flames any longer with what this teams needs to improve.

Yup, Monahan is really good player when he's 100 percent healthy. Hopefully he recovers well and can regain top form.

Shipping him out now would be doing so at his lowest possible value. If the injury was a factor in his production AND it can be resolved then you are better off seeing if he rebounds next year.
He has 2 years left on an affordable contract with historically much higher production.

I don't see the value in selling low on him.

After head/back/neck, hips sound like the most painful/debilitating things.

Good on Monahan for playing through the pain as he has played 591 of the 614 games (618 after the final 4 games) for a guy that is always injured he never misses significant time

I'm not completely ready to move on from Monahan. He's had a bunch of injuries, if he can get healthy and stay that way he's clearly a valuable player. I do think he probably plays through stuff too much and ends up looking ineffective for long stretches.

Seems like we hear this every summer. Gotta wonder if it's not doing more long term damage playing through this stuff every year.

See if he can regain form for 60 games next year and ship him at the deadline.
