If a person has 9 minutes to watch :

TL: DW host goes over an ebay listing for 72 3060 ti video cards that sold for 82,000 US$. Also shows a sold lot listing of 20 MSI 1070ti's that sold for 18,500$

Gamers Nexus goes over the generational price creep that occurs with nvidia, (use to be able to get an xx70 series card for less than 400$ us.now they're 1k$?) and the fact that nvidia hasn't released a sub 250$US card yet for this generation (229 days after start) AMD is also guilty of following pricing trends and not offering cheaper prices.

When will this end? it took 2 years last time, so only those who will pay exorbitant prices need apply. However with all the cash being printed it may require a general market crash to correct prices.

Just play older / non-graphics intensive games. There are plenty out there worth your time.

If anyone is in the market for a gaming Laptop Amazon has the 2021 Zephyrus G15 Ryzen edition back in stock and even on sale for $1819. This has been sold out everywhere for awhile and I have been looking for one for months. Finally got one!

Looks like 3080 Ti and 3070 Ti coming out soon.

As someone that completely failed to get the first round of RTX's, does anyone know what the best game plan is to try and get in properly on day 1?

With them unable to even keep the first run in any kinda of stock for the last year or so, another different set of sku's on the assembly line doesn't seem like it's going to help get supply to match demand.

Do you think that making them less useful for mining will help make them available for gamers?

I think what Nvidia has done to make gaming GPUs like the 3060/3060Ti is a driver-level lockout, which means dedicated people will simply write and distribute a custom device driver for crypto-neutered cards to allow higher performance mining on them. The reverse happened with the Nvidia GTX 1060-based mining cards and those didn’t even have video-out ports on them. People were able to use modded drivers and use them as discrete GPUs for gaming through their onboard graphics (as showcased in a Linus Tech Tips video).

Eliminating GPU-based crypto-mining is what will return GPU availability and pricing back to reasonable, hopefully. Ethereum moving to a Proof-of-Stake model in the next year or two should have an impact there.

I'm switching to Mac for our high end compute since I can get those in a week and not two or three months. It's older hardware (end of 2019) but still up to snuff. I'm not optimistic around Nvidia and GPU timelines.

Computex is on right now.

Intel Computex keynote:

Kitguru reaction and summary for those that don't want to watch a 43 minute video.

This one is still 13 minutes but only 8 are relevant.

AMD is 8 PM MST or 10 AM Taipei.

What would bug me if I was in the market for a laptop is these days the CPU/GPU doesn't seem to matter as much.. it all depends on the power budget. A 3070 laptop with a lower CPU can outperform a 3080 if it has more power.

I feel bad for consumers.

AMD's version of DLSS is intriguing considering it will work on some Nvidia cards as well (like Pascal). Could make my 1080 Ti last even longer then I had planned. Now I just hope enough games will support it.

Considering how on par if not far ahead of most Turing cards the 1080ti was in performance (save for the 2080ti and RTX Titan, and RTX workloads), I think it's probably going to be a relevant card for a long time.

Lol @ Gamers Nexus' 3080Ti review. 70% price premium for 10% performance increase. He's not happy.

Kept checking to see if any decent parts were available to build a new machine, nothing every day. Finally said screw it and looked at ME prebuilt systems, there was 1 left in the city so snagged it. I went back and added up the cost of all the parts and it's almost exactly the same as the price of the built machine, less if you add in little crap like thermal paste and of course time. Just looked again and they have 1 available again at a different store, just crazy.

Nothing wrong with a pre-built. The only issue I have is the components that they don't specifically name are probably on the cheap side but it's the best way to get a 3000 series GPU these days.
