What a selfish prick.

It's all about Kiril Kaprizov apparently.

Everyone is entitled to as much as they can get. He has the reasonable option of playing in the KHL. There is nothing wrong with utilizing it.
He's worth what someone will pay him. If someone does, that's his worth.
I'm not sure you should ever feel sorry of the billionaire owners.

Lol, players should get every dollar they can, regardless if they are worth it or not.
Fans are dumb.

No, we just have diverging interests.
Largely I couldnt care less how much a player gets paid so long as it doesnt adversely effect my team. With a salary cap we do have to care how much players get paid for the obvious reasons.
I should point out, at least in my view: Player =/= Person
I dont know these guys as people. As a fan its like evaluating a product. I stick to that. The rest is none of my business unless it gets dragged into their performance.
The players do their thing, the team does their thing and the fans do their thing.
Its just how it works.

No, not all players have to be greedy pieces of ####.
Some of them will actually take a slight haircut in order to help build a winning team because they know they will be millionaires anyways, and would maybe like to win some cups too.
Like Stamkos for example, taking less when he was a UFA to stay in Tampa and now he has a couple of cups.

You're right. Some of them would. But I'd wager that would be in the minority.

For sure, but most of them won't use the leverage of going to the KHL.

Most of them realize this gig is temporary and there's no guarantee of another contract down the road aswell.

Can't blame Kaprizov too much. Maybe his true intention is to return home. If you haven't watched his feature on the Wild's Youtube channel I'd recommend it, seems like a solid kid.
I wonder if part of it is due to the fact that Minnesota's roster doesn't feature a single Russian to ease his transition. Malkin had Gonchar, Kuznetsov had Ovi etc.
Either way it would truly suck for the league if he left especially after all the anticipation of him finally arriving. Can't imagine what Wild fans are thinking.

Stamkos was like Landeskog, who both wanted bad,y to stay with their existing team, but used every ounce of leverage, real or implied, to get as much money as possible.
Their only real difference was they wanted to stay. Because it suited their personal situation.
They wanted more, they didn’t take less to benefit their team, they did so because they wanted to stay.

HF rumor states Kaprisov has anywhere between a 5-8 year deal at 9M AAV that will be announced shortly.

I base this on nothing, but I predict he is a one hit-wonder.
One great season, he gets paid, then floats for a couple years and ends up in the K anyway.

I think he’s more likely to become a Panarin than a Gusev, if we’re talking about recent Russians who came over.
Kaprizov is a play driver and did it without a top center with him. I think he’s more likely to be a PPG winger than most top 6 options.
Minnesota is overpaying to keep him for 5 years, if the rumor is true. I think Kaprizov wants to hit a big market when the 5 years are done

LOL
I’m sure the perfect weather and no state taxes didn’t have anything to do with it.
His take home in Tampa is more than he would get in Toronto even with a bigger contract. Why shouldn’t a player get paid what they are worth?
The GM’s create the market.

Stand up guy only signing an 8 year 68 million contract, really took one on the chin, Kaprizov has made peanuts in his career compared to Stamkos.
He has a right to maximize his value. Players don't have the same loyalty as fans, nor should they. It's a business, the team will throw you away as soon as they can once you start to decline, make your money.
