Or none of the above. We know next to nothing about the guy. A few photobombs? A post game celebration? Not exactly a Myers Briggs test.

One thing to point out is Peters first 11 games is that it's his first 11 games with the Flames, while GG already had 86 games the previous year.
I don't think it's fair to say he is terrible. There was a terrible result here, no doubt, and he showed to be terrible at a few aspects of coaching.

My take is that he his system has proved to be great at outshooting, outchance-ing, and out possession-ing other teams. Where he failed miserably was in-game adjustments, specific player utilization, and tweaks to the system that would allow for more capitalization on the chances we were already getting.

imo his system, as is, is perfect for the AHL. With the lower overall skill level having the puck more and having more scoring chances will lead to more wins but it doesn't take into account the individual skills of certain players.

I honestly think if he is ever given another chance to be a head coach and he can see the flaws in his coaching style and correct them, he could be a really good coach. Torts, changed his style from being too hard on guys, and he seems to be having a revival of sorts, Gulutzan just needs to start holding players more accountable and making adjustments sooner when things aren't working.

In game adjustments and tweaks to accommodate specific players styles of play is honestly not that big of a thing to change, it just seems like an impossible hill to climb when we look at the overall outcome of what happened. But if he learns from his mistakes and tries to correct them I think he could end up being a pretty good NHL coach.

Yeah, closer to a Voight Kampff test.

Bill Peters comments about the trade really got me wondering as well. Pretty happy with what we got but would always like to know what could have been for better or worse. Lindholm is starting to look like he could be a big core piece moving forward though.

I wonder if it was Hamilton for Nylander or something

That's tempting. That's really tempting.

But as I said before the deal happened: if you can get both Hanifin and Lindholm, you do it. Those are two excellent young players.

It was Brouwer for Draisatl. The trade was one for one.

Flames allegedly had a deal with Philadelphia on the go at the draft. Peters likely referring to that

It was Drouin but Mike Cammalleri wouldn't agree to a sign and trade back to MTL. Told Tre "That only made sense then to the Lightning"

Maybe not, but they are certainly more evidence-based than one.

With way more versatility each.

He said it in response to a question about Lindholm getting traded to the Flames, so he didn't just bring it up out of nowhere.

Fourth overall? No.

Peters said he went to bed thinking the trade was going to be with one team and woke up to find out it was with Carolina instead. The trade happened on Saturday morning and Ottawa had already made their pick Friday night. Any trade for Ottawa's pick would have been off the table by the time Peters went to bed.

There were rumblings of a Philly Calgary trade (as Toonage said)

The center pieces were Hamilton and Symmonds. The Flyers wouldn't throw in a young defenseman (the Hanifin piece) to get the deal done.

Yeah, it would have to be an exceptional young defenseman from Philly with WayneIAM becoming a UFA at the end of this year. I would expect that it would have to be Provorov or Sanheim going the other way.

I'm glad that this deal is working out for both sides right now. The tipping point question for Carolina is if they can keep Ferland who could shop himself around this summer. If the trade becomes Hamilton and Fox for Lindholm and Hanifin the deal swings sharply in the Flames favor. If Fox decides to opt out and it becomes Hamilton for Lindholm and Hanifin, oh boy.

Wayne Simmonds would still be a nice pick-up this year, perhaps a hired gun going in to this season's playoffs?

(Most of his $3,975,000 cap hit will have been paid out by then.)

You would think if that deal went down there would've been some discussion to Simmonds re-signing with the Flames.

Wayne has had a great start to the season, 6 goals in 11 games.
