woot, Denis rallies from 5-4 down in set 3 and wins three straights games (broke Tiafoe twice in those last 3 games) to take the match.

Fantastic rally to come back from the brink and steal that match!
That one is about as close as they come statistically. Concern is still growing with Shapo's service game for me though. He is flirting with leading the tour in average double faults per match after another brutal display (13!) today.
If they don't figure this out he is going to find himself only able to go so far in events as gifting your opponent that many points will kill him more often than not.

As Jimmy Arias was saying during the Rogers Cup, it's a pretty dangerous (another word would be gutsy) move to change your service motion in the middle of the season. Obviously, he recognized that something needed to change as he was double-faulting quite a bit prior to making this change. I guess we'll have to see if he sticks with it or not, but I think his service games are going to be a little dicey for the foreseeable future.

I would agree with hat and as Jim also mentioned, it's not so much a service problem, it's a problem with his second serve in general.
Denis lands his first serve at a decent enough clip and wins those points at a high level. Something changes when he gets into that second serve....maybe tactically he just needs to go flatter with it as opposed to always trying to hit out wide?
EDIT: Diving deeper, it looks like he is only really not performing well when second serving to ad court, which may be a lefty thing he needs to figure out.

Up next for Denis is Kyle Edmund - That should be another close match, Edmund is a quality player.

These two have had some serious battles already and are building quite the rivalry. Denis has won 3 of the last 4 meetings, but all 4 matches have gone to at least 3 sets. A cleaner service game by Denis should give him the edge based on play of late but it won't be easy.

I wish I thought dash was going to jeer Marin Cilic a bit.
That said, I have been, and if you ever have a chance to go, I highly recommend it. Being in Flushing Meadows alone is worth the price of admission.

So Milos will be playing at 9:00am Calgary time on court 3, I wonder if this will be televised? Denis gets to play at night on the Grandstand which is scheduled for 6:30 Calgary time.
Go Canada Go!

Milos up a break in set 2 serving at 4-3. Go Milos Go!
Edit: Milos victorious winning set 2 by breaking Lajovic to take the set 6-3. A potential match versus Shapo down the road if Denis defeats Edmund later today and Milos can defeat Malek Jaziri in his next match.

I currently can't find a link, but I know they do allocate one wild card on the men's and women's draw to whomever wins the US Open Wild Card challenge which is a 5 week tournament series that starts in early July. Also, the USTA likes to give wild cards out to up and coming male and female American junior players (players that have recently won the US junior tennis championship as an example). Of course, they also like to spice up the draw with players who have won the US Open in the past and whose rankings have fallen due to injuries etc. (which is why you see Wawrinka on the men's side and Azarenka and Kuznetsova on the women's side).

Thank you. So essentially Felix had very little chance of receiving a wild card unless he was a recent story of interest that may spice up the draw. Hopefully he qualifies, I’d love to see him win a round or two.

Yeah, I hope so as well - If he keeps climbing up the men's rankings (getting into the top 100 could be accomplished in the next couple of months if he continues his strong run of play), he could get automatic entry into the Aussie Open.
/Live rankings currently has Felix at #114

Tsitsipas is probably still physically and mentally drained from the Rogers Cup, he falls in straight sets to David Goffin (7-5 6-3) in Cincy.
