I'm guessing if he wants more skates to feel good he won't play Monday either. Tomorrow likely no practice after a game tonight and it being a travel day. Monday game day skate won't be much either.

I imagine that Jagr might suit up for the pre-game warmups. Scratches typically do.

Big opportunity for Lazar. Won't get a lot of chances in the top 9 (barring injury) so he needs to have a good showing tonight IMO.

As for Jags, this will be the biggest ovation you'll ever see for a healthy scratch...

Hoping to see Bennett direct more shots on net. 0 last game, and it's something about his game I didn't like last season either. I think his biggest problem is knowing where to go in the o-zone when he doesn't have the puck. He has a bad habit of reacting to the play and not anticipating it.

On top of a win I hope Brodie has a good game. We need a solid top 4 to be more then a bubble team.

For all their warts, they were a 94 point team last year.

Mike Smith being Mike Smith puts them in 100 point territory with no progression from anyone else.

Brodie is going to be fine. He can only do so much when McDavid is skating fast enough to get a ticket in a school zone.

Brodie is capable of a lot better. Not sure if he's holding himself to the same standard as he once was. He just looked hungrier for a couple years there. Or I could just be making a lot out of nothing and he's just shaking off rust

Brodie looked very slow not just vs McDavid but for the entire game, hope he gets his legs under him today.

It doesn't help when McDavid was on the ice for 80% of the game lol.

Only 3 pages of a game day thread for the season opener? Where is everyone?

Really hoping for a win tonight. It's not going to get any easier heading out on the road to California and the team needs to be going in the right direction. 4-2 Flames tonight. Brouwer gets a hat trick and CP goes nuclear.

I’m expecting a big game from Ferland and Versteeg. Hopefully my newborn will settle early tonight so I can spend some time watching the game!

Thinking the 3M line leads the way tonight in getting the offense going with a PP goal by Johnny.

Everyone keepw talking about the Mcdavid blowing by Brodie thing, and while Mcdavid is undoubetdly the fastest ever, no one seems to note that Brodie was standing at the blueline while Mcdavid was already coasting. It makes huge difference in a foot race when one guy has a running start.

I guess its just fun to talk about how great Mcdaivd is.
