Signs for 3×3 with the oilers. Heralded as chiarelli's best contract negotiations of the off-season.

If he does land with another team, I look forward to the inevitable "Welcome back Dennis Wideman" video presentation... or not.

I remember one blogger saying that Wideman was about to become a UFA and he was wondering if we would be able to re-sign him. Gave me a few laughs.

I hope he decides to become a ref following retirement.

I think Wideman will get a PTO somewhere. A team needing a depth defencemen and a guy to use on the 2nd unit PP would probably at least look at him. I would be surprised if he didn't get a PTO. I wouldn't guarantee he actually gets a contract, but I do think he will get a PTO offer or two.

Still can't believe Beauchemin got any NHL contract with how bad his game has now declined. He's such a pylon now.

Hope that washed up has been helps to sink the Ducks this year.

No he's not. He's not very much better than Wideman. They're both done like dinner though.

Remember: Wideman retired a LINESMAN via injury, not a referee. He seems to be fine with referees.

He will probably sign a pto and if he doesn't get on a team he will probably be in the running to make the Olympic team.

I wouldn't say he's "done like dinner" then (as bad as he is at this point).

He used to be pretty good, but he has deteriorated to the point where his game is not NHL calibre anymore IMO.

If I were a Ducks fan, I'd be shuddering about this if it wasn't for the fact it's only a 1 year & $1M deal. I really think it's a needless signing by Anaheim.

Since I'm not a Ducks fan, I hope Anaheim is still stuck in the past with what Beauchemin used to be as a player and plays him 15-20 mins a game. He'll probably get exposed quite a bit with how much his game and skating have regressed and look like a real pylon a lot of times on the ice.

I bet he signs late somewhere in the South. Dallas maybe. Carolina.

Carolina is stacked with defensemen. I bet he ends up in some stink hole like Colorado or NJ on a PTO.

That's pretty sad for team Canada. Will that team even make the elimination rounds with NHL players?

He probably has to hope for a tryout or maybe he gets signed by a team that gets into injury trouble. Or maybe it's simply the end of his career in the NHL.
