will Lombardi be the first player to pull off the (1-2) double?

Big Ern missed out
Kohn and Gio were ruled ineligible

no one else has come that close I don't think....will our current number 13 get a chance at 53? compelling .. stay tuned

If Lombardi had won his actual number (18), I would have abstained from voting.

But since he didn’t win 18, I’m going with Lombardi for 49

Lombardi is one of those proverbial "what could have been" guys.

Looked like it was all there to be a good long term guy, but one thing or another always held him back.

I voted Richie by accident lol

I don't care how many games or points Lombardi had in 49 vs 18, he deserves this more than the other guys

Concussion as a rookie derailed him

I think I brought this up in the #18 thread, but i think those early severe injuries can really derail a young guys career. Same thing with Bennett IMO, missing his entire 18 year old season had to have a huge effect on his progress and the transition to the pros

It makes me nervous for Valimaki, hopefully he doesn't miss much of a step because he seems like the real deal

Checking the gamesheets, it appears that Lombardi only wore the number for 9 games in October 2003 and switched to #18 on November 1.

October 29: http://www.nhl.com/scores/htmlreport...4/ES020133.HTM
November 1: http://www.nhl.com/scores/htmlreport...4/ES020158.HTM

Here's a photo from the November 1 game (the black letters on the nameplate lasted longer than him wearing #49 did):
Spoiler!

He had 1 goal and 2 assists in those 9 games.

Regehr had 4 points in 20 games, all wearing #49. He gets my vote.

Moving forward I'm not voting for someone when I think of him in a different number. Therefore I gotta go with Regher as he was the best #49 that only wore #49.

Accidentally voted for Regehr too.

At one point he looked like he was a better prospect than Gio IMO, but then Gio really elevated his game and Regehr had injury problems.

I think Regehr would have been a quality NHLer if not for injuries. Probably bottom end, but a good player none the less. I can't vote for Lombardi here as he was truly a #18.

Hunter clearly flamed out in the AHL.

Richie had concussion issues early in his NHL career IIRC. I'm not sure how many games Richie would have otherwise played but it sounds like he had a pretty lengthy career in Germany.

When I think about Calgarians and the 2014 draft, Hunter was the big bust whereas it was Brayden Point who became a star...

When they each got their call-ups in 2005-06, I was much more impressed by Regehr than Gio.
