2016 World Cup of Hockey
I'll start this off by saying I did a quick search and couldn't find a thread on it so if I missed it, please delete this mods.
I do not have a clue how to post articles on here so I will reference the one that made me think of this. TheScore app has an article speculating who they think will make the roster of the under 23 team. They have both JG and Moneyhands maKing the first 16 players named. However, they have it set up so Johnny is on the 1st line. And money is centring the 2nd. The question I have is, do you think they should be split up or on the same line? And also, out of the players listed (hopefully someone posts a link to said article), who do you think should be their RW? I believe it would be amazing to have Nathan MacKinnon on the right side seeing as he's a natural righty and all.

Have seen some speculation that both Gio and Brodie might make Team Canada and play as a pairing. Makes sense to me.
Also wondering if Bennett's year has been strong enough to warrant any consideration for the U23 team - or if Johnny and Mony get selected that will be it from the Flames.

The fact that Johnny and Monahan are playing on the same team in a world cup even though they're from different countries... #JustNHLThings

Here is the article I believe you are referencing. It has Johnny and Monny on the same line. I'd be pretty surprised if they were split up. Is this the same article and you just misread it?

Yawn. I'm sure I may watch some of this but as of now during a real NHL season I don't find much appeal in this NHL/NHLPA cash grab.

I'm super pumped for this. Don't see why people call it a cash grab. The whole damn league is a cash grab haha.
Heard Hamilton will be on the under 23 as well.

All preliminary rosters will be announced March 2.
Chris Johnston @reporterchris
Initial World Cup rosters will be announced March 2 in eight separate news conferences. The teams must pick at least 16 players.

Team North America will have Johnny and Monahan for sure. I think Dougie likely makes it and Bennett is a long shot.
As for team Canada I think there is a pretty good chance Gio and Brodie make it

Dougie should be there for sure, I would go so far to say he is a lock
although who is picking the roster? Oilers management?

I messed up and referenced the wrong article. The Sportsnet article that komskies (thank you for the sig. Any chance you could elaborate why that post you made was so messed up?) linked to is the one. Got my apps mixed up, too many of them.

I wonder what the effect on the players that miss training camp will be?
Slow starts? Injuries?

Spector keeps Dougie off the list in favor of Parenko, Ceci, Murray. What garbage

Parayko is having a hell of a season, but I'd put Dougie ahead of all 3 of them right now. Definitely well ahead of Ceci and Murray.

I hate the idea of this coming on the heels of a bad season where injuries/confusion cost the Flames. The team needs focus. This increases the odds for injuries, and keeps the team from practicing together until the eve of the season. Can you imagine losing Brodie or Gaudreau to some fluke injury in a meaningless tournament?

Injuries happen all the time in training camp too. It's also possible that playing in this tournament will help these guys shake the summer rust off faster than their peers and it will help them hit the ground running in October.

I hope you're right! I'm just dreading this tournament.
