Calaway Park Threatens Legal Action Over TikTok Video
So some guy posted a TikTok video comparing the prices of Calaway Park and Canada's Wonderland. Calaway Park is $0.04 cheaper and you get about 32 different rides, compared to 200ish at Wonderland.
Anyway, the video goes viral on TikTok and Instagram so Calaway Park reaches out to this guy to get his contact info. Thinking he's going to get free tickets he gives it to them. They decide to call him and threaten legal action if he continues to defame the park. He records the conversation and posts it to YouTube.
It's not a good look for the park and it's hilarious how they have no idea what the hell they're talking about.
lol the guy on the phone sounds like a bully trying to intimidate someone who they assumed didn't understand their rights. I didn't listen to the tik tok though, so no idea what "defemination" the vlogger posted and if legit.
Not a lawyer, but when you are dealing with a real legal threat, isn't it common practice for the other party to disclose their name (i.e. if its the legal represented, the lawyer would have zero issue saying their name?).
They just handed this vlogger what they wanted- more viewers.

You almost certainly could hit every attraction at Callaway for a single admission, which is not happening at a 200 ride park. He's completely missing the diminishing returns that come with upscaling attractions. And further to that a portion of the money you pay to attend a theme park is partially about novelty and experience of a day out with the family, hard to quantify that by counting rides.
The lesson here is don't play stupid games that stupid people start.

What do you mean 40%? In his video he claims it is $2 more. $45 at Canada’s wonderland vs $47 at calaway.
Indeed. Plus the early bird annual pass is only slightly more than the single day ticket.
And it's a stupid comparison to begin with. For me to go to take my family Canada's Wonderland, I'd have to include 4 return airfares to Toronto plus hotels and eating out every meal. Realistically if I'm doing that we're going to Disneyland instead.
Calaway Park is drive-to destination. If you buy the annual pass and pack your own snacks it can be very, very cheap per visit. If I lived in Toronto I wouldn't fly here to go to Calaway, just like I wouldn't fly to Toronto to go to Wonderland. They aren't competitors at all.
All that said, the Calaway Park comes off looking like a bunch of idiots in that video. The guy who wouldn't give his name and kept saying he wanted adults in the room comes across particularly poorly.

Not that either park is a great deal - and Calaway could be a rip off, I don't know, but I hate the crazy hyperbole.
Wonderland lists 79 "attractions" - one of which is literally "jump of the cliff platform".
17 are water park rides (though I question counting the lazy river or 2 splash pads as rides).
Calaway has 10 rides where one needs to be 48" in height, Wonderland has 22.
Regular at-the-gate price at Wonderland is $68 (nobody pays that) Discount price is $48. That does not include the water park. Want a fast pass - that ticket is $89
I remember when my kids got seasons passes to Wonderland. Because they could go as often as they liked, they were happy going for 3 hours and getting on 3-5 rides. If you don't get there early or you don't have a fast-pass you could easily wait 90 mins to get on one of the big 4.
That's okay. We can all still go to Disney's magic kingdom for the day at $125 USD.

This is the weirdest reasoning/defence of something. You’re saying two things can’t be compared because they’re in different cities and it would cost you money to go fly to another city? Literally insane.
The argument isn’t that they’re competing for dollars, it’s that they’re similar attractions (in this case in price, and not so much in quality).
Calaway is also the hillbilly hole by the highway, so I reject any defence of it at all, but this one is… bizarro… you might say.

It's an odd comparison simply because I can't choose to go Canada Wonderland instead of Calaway Park. So what is the point of comparing it.
Your choice in Calgary is Calaway Park or nothing. So you either think it's good value or you don't.
Idiots on both sides.
As an aside, Calaway Park is still strange due to the strange remaining pieces from the 1 year that it was Flintstones themed.
