Penguins GM Cheese hooked up with Anaheim today and worked out a whopper.



Brady Tkachuk + Egor Afanaseyev - are heading to the Pens for

Owen Power + 1st (PIT) 23' + 3rd (22)

A heavy price to pay, but i certainly intend for that 1st to be within the 25-28 range by the time it is ready to pick, and certainly losing Power just taken first overall hurts.
Getting Brady who is still on his first deal for another 2 years and Afenaseyev who i think will be a stud in the NHL, takes some of that sting away.

I really like B. Tkachuk, especially his awesome contract. And I would have been very happy going into the year with him, but this deal got the better of me.

Any time I can add a 6'5 smooth skating dman projected to go #1 and another 1st rounder, I'll take those assets. Gives me a bit more to work with.

Afanasyev looks to be a good one, but we were OK moving him onto the Pens to balance out the assets.
