My most harrowing landing (and takeoff) ever was Lukla in Nepal - the big rock at the end of the uphill runway on the cliff was a bit nerve-wracking. Paro definitely seems to be up there.

Hawk trainers

Spoiler!

Hopefully we get a few more so the Snowbirds can upgrade from their Tutors. RAF Red Arrows use Hawks and if the Snowbirds did as well last years fatality would have been prevented by having modern ejection

Won't happen without a huge cash injection, they are nearing the end of their service life and there is not a lot of interest in keeping them operational. Of course anything is possible but I would be beyond shocked to see them refitted for Snowbirds. I think they'd have a better chance to get the F-18's once the F-35 comes in.

The Snowbirds are also on a shoestring budget and really only survive because they are able to keep the tutor flying with what they have. Procurement of a replacement when we are having so much trouble refitting operational units would be a deathbell for the team.

A bunch of landings on 11 today.

Generally I'll see Canadian North land on RWY11, but today it's been Jazz, WestJet, Encore, Air Canada, practically everyone all landing on 11, which is a very rare sight since the parallel opened.

The winds are supposedly 190 at 6kt, which makes it more in line with RWY 17L/R

Anything to do with the 17R/35L closure?

Long live the Mad Dog!

4:20 is where the fun begins, some great footage of other aircraft prior however.

Qantas operating their longest flight ever today, Buenos Aires to Darwin repatriating Australian citizens. 16 hours 27 minutes:

Just looks so weird with the great circle path going south instead of north like we're used to seeing in North America.

Qantas flight QF7879 on the Dreamliner from JFK to Sydney was 19 hours and 16 minutes so quite substantially longer then this fight.
