Definitely gave up some good value here, but with Stamkos, Colorado now has:

- 1 top 9 Goalie (Smith @ 89)
With stars at every position, as well as our overall depth, Colorado feels primed for a competitive season.

Man those 2022 1sts are an interesting thing. Ravi has 7 of them + 2 other top 20 conditional ones. I see at least 1 more top 20 conditional out there as well. Could be a pinch for people looking to satisfy that top 20 next off-season (includes me).

Hard to give up a stud like Stamkos but we have enough top end talent on this team right now with Bergeron and Kucherov and a solid supporting cast with Tkachuk and Landeskog. I actually really like picking up Keith for this year as a guy to insert in my top 4. Depending on how free agency goes Olofsson will play anywhere in the top 9. Getting a top 20 1st next year really helps us to offset the top 25 we already owe. Nice to have that protected now.

We have Price on an expiring contract and see Ilya as a solid replacement on a cheap contract after this season.
We are extremely high on Meier, however I feel that the forward depth allowed me to pull the trigger here and the the cap relief allowed me to bring up Romanov and complete the roster construction. We also missed the draft this season and want to make sure we have lots of ammo heading into next years draft.
There will be a few more tweaks in the coming days/weeks and then the Habs will be ready to roll.

Really felt like I need to shore up my top 9 forwards, so dealt from a position of strength - with a health goalie pipeline in place. Not sure if Timo has another step to find or not - but either way he met the needs for a reasonable price. We had alternative opportunities to bring in UFA aged forwards, for less acquisition but considerable more long-term contract risk.

^Have been seeking out a veteran dman so that Byram wasn't in the top 6 - but couldn't land one in free agency.
Win-win deal. Cheese picks up two prospects for a free agent he just signed.
I trade two guys I drafted in the 4th (but were drafted higher in the NHL draft) for a solid veteran dman, and the cap to cover him. The latter was important as to this point I was running right to the cap limit with no ability to swap players into the line-up.
