Anyone else see the CF-18s or other fighter jets flying low over the city on Saturday afternoon? I only saw them from the distance, couldn't tell what they were exactly.

Was it on an Airbus? Could have been the hydraulic transfer unit noises?
ETA I guess they only make noise after landing, though.
Could it have been flaps deploying?

Nothing more unnerving than hearing unfamiliar sounds on an airplane. I heard a loud crash in the middle of a transatlantic flight once. Scared the crap out of me but nothing happened.
Sounded like some freight tipped over or something to be honest.

Hehe, I was thinking about the "barking" noise too.

I saw two in formation on approach to 35L. They sure make a lot of beautiful noise! They were CF-18s

Good lord that is a long flight, Twin Otters don't exactly set speed records.

Interesting to read the details

That must be a huge contract for the airline to land.

Edit...Yes they did...
From the Article
"Kenn Borek, however, has the experience of flying two similar medical evacuation flights -- one in 2001 and another in 2003."

The definition of puddle jumping. Cool to follow though, hope the mission is a success for all involved.

How many flight crews do they need to essentially be flying 24/7?

Trying to guess the next stop - I'm guessing Santiago or another major Chilean city before Puerto Arenas for the final jumping off point.

Yeah I love that orange on the KLM special livery. Kind of brings back memories of CP Air. I'd love for them to paint up all the fleet like that.
There is also a rumour that KLM may fly that particular bird here for the opening of the new terminal. Really weak rumour at this point but you never know.

Have they ever used Ushuaia as a jumping off point?
