Question for the knowledge base.
My wife is currently on Rogers on a ridiculous, yet standard $95/month plan.
I'm going to go ahead and try this, first with an old Blackberry get a Sask number on the cheapest Alberta plan, change the plan, and then port my wife's 587 number.
Do I need to get the Koodo plan under my wife's name, since I will be porting over her number from her Roger's phone/plan ?
Thanks in advance.

When I ported my son over from Wind there was something that asked who the account holder was; fortunately I had put myself as the account holder for both so it wasn't an issue. Not sure how deep they check once you give the phone number and account number.

To add to that, generally the account holder name isn't too big of a deal beyond phone number and account number. If there are any issues, the port request will be held up and after 24 hours, you can call back to Koodo asking if anything is missing if the new Koodo sim isn't active with the new number yet.

So I got around to getting a Sask number on the cheapest AB plan, as per Aleks instructions a few posts back.
I did it at a London Drugs, no questions asked, simple and fast.
The only hiccup I have had is, the self-serve will not let me change the plan until the next billing cycle, which oddly is only a few days away.
Hopefully should be able to change the plan, and then port my number.
Me thinks it should work, as the "proforma bill" says my bill will include $0.62 for Sask 911 service.
I just did it at London drugs as well. I had to sweet talk my way into it as she advised the Koodo rep told her to no longer allow people without sask id sign up for the plan. So they are aware of what is happening but they still need to hit sales targets so did it anyways
I also have to wait a week until next billing cycle to switch

Switched the plan successfully at the beginning of new billing cycle. Just waiting for fiancée to get back from Ottawa to port her number. Don't anticipate any issues.
Their plan calculator doesn't offer much savings over the regular big 3 contracts if any at all. The 90-day term offers look interesting until you realize that the data amount covers the entire 3 months

Changed plan and ported my wife's number without any problems. Good riddance Rogers.
Thanks CP! What a great community this is.

Quick question I just saw my first bill and I was charged 56 for my sask number then another 49 for my calgary number. Is this normal for first months bill?
Just tried at Koodo kiosk in Southcentre and got rejected. Will try London Drugs tomorrow.
Rejected why?
You just want a sask sim/number (on cheapest sask plan) to use when you move to your fake sask address in the new year.
Can't see why that should be any problem.

The rest you do on your own afterward
That what I asked for. I said I'd even provide a legit Sask address(bro in law's address) if it would make things easier. Girl said that option shows on her computer system, but that would mean risking her job. So I just left. Haven't had time to try elsewhere. Hopefully this weekend since my 3 year contract is up and my 6GB plan is gonna be $70+.

From what others have said, I think the trick is going into a retailer that sells various providers. For example I went into Best Buy when I did mine. Somebody who actually works for Koodo might have trouble going against their employer's instructions.

I tired several times since September to sign up and ended up giving up after getting turned away each time. So on Black Friday I signed my wife and I up for a no contract monthly at Rogers of all places. I got 6GB data, 2 Spotify memberships, Game Centre, unlimited calling for $120/month. My wife uses so little data, so at least 5GB are mine. Plus I was paying $20/month for Spotify allreay for us. So ends up being $100/month after cost savings on Spotify.
Long story short, I would look at some of the deals out there with the larger players. I never signed a contract, so I can switch anytime. I think this is a decent value plan though, I was going to ask Telus for their plan but screw them. If they are going to turn down $55 on Koodo I'll go elsewhere and they can get $0 from me.
Was able to get Saskatchewan # on $30 AB plan today. Have to wait until next billing cycle, which is on Friday. Will update again then, but I don't think there should be any problems.
Edit: Ported over this evening. Took about half an hour. Saving about $25/mth now.
