So Avs are sending Aho and Demko to the Devils? I always get confused.

Avs getting Kaprizov, Larkin, and a 1st in their first deal... impressive. Dealing from a position of strength in net.

Just a question....if the new guy wins in a big margin( my opinion) we are fine with that ....if he made a trade that was questionable in the other teams favor it would be tore to pieces. I'm just trying to figure out the vote process which I understand is there to protect the new gm but if a new gm is involved it should be voted on based on the deal itself not because he's new

And good for him, but would we all be ok with it if the players were going in opposite directions?

You voted against it because the new GM wins the deal?

the whole idea is simply to avoid new players getting fleeced by experienced GMs. If he "wins" the deal, then good for him IMO.

No I voted against it because it's not close. Is it a vote solely based on him being new or voting on the trade itself? My confusion is there.

Yeah the point is not to make sure a new GM's first few deals are even-steven. If we feel he wins, but the other GM is comfortable with the deal... who are we to stop it?

I do understand the logic for sure, I just could never understand if the guy wins it's a pat on the back, if he loses a few it's tossed around if he should be let go when it's the senior GM's who are offering the deals. Prime example was the Fla gm taken off the leash and put back on....if he made deals he was fine with who are we stop it?

I dunno if I agree with the Florida GM being put back on the leash, although that seemed to be a very specific case where the commishes figured Florida was being taken to the cleaners on a regular basis by the same GM.

I understand I am overpaying. I have been trying to grab a #1 C since I took over with no success so I reached out to the Avs about Aho. The Deal is very similar to the framework I had when I was trying to get Barkov. Larkin, Tex, 1st.
I think Demko has potential to be a top 5 goalie in the NHL for a long time as well so I thought the overpayment was okay. Kaprizov and Schultz seemed appropriate for a young starting goalie.
Also the new GM factor, I knew I was going to overpay.
