There are two communities further south as well.

EDIT: Related to the ring road, Macloed is closed this weekend in both directions as they pull down the old 22x bridge. Stay the eff away from this end of the city if you can, it is going to be an unmitigated disaster.
Oh, that’s going to be fun in -24 degree weather...

To be honest, I wasn't sure what this was in reference to and had to look on a map to confirm. Thoughts and prayers.

Which really sucks and seemed unnecessary. My house backs (or backed now) onto those trees , and they were a long way from where the road will be, but they just clear cut a natural barrier . We always knew the road would be going there, not complaining about that, but we were told none of that would be touched so we're a bit miffed. Really increased our wind exposure too

What community do you live in? I only see up the hill from the TCH and cannot see south of there from my commute but there are no houses along the stretch of road that was cleared from what I see, unless perhaps along the east edge of Valley Ridge?

Regardless, I would assume they clear the entire ROW of the TUC and not necessarily just the amount for the road itself. I might be mistaken on that however.

Deerfoot upgrades announced. Sounds like a new lane all the way from Anderson to Beddington, as well as upgrades to some interchanges. Most notably, GLENMORE.

Why ? 3 Lane roads that bottleneck to two lanes all the time are the best.

Also Glenmore-Deerfoot construction ... ugghh.. i can just imagine the waiting

Great news for Calgarians with Deerfoot trail upgrades. I wonder how long the project will actually take? Construction is supposed to start in 2023.

WTF. Why promise upgrades in 2019 that won't start construction until summer 2023, in 4 years' time.

Very strategic timing on the Deerfoot upgrades being so close to an election now

You understand that this is more complicated than just drawing a line on a map right?

Designing, engineering, and planning to expand one of the largest/busiest corridors in a city of 1 Million+ people isn't something they can just go do.
4 years seems like a reasonable time frame from announcement to shovels hitting the ground to me.

Don't they have plans for this though? They've been talking about improvements for decades, and I've seen several intersection drawings for the route. Unless they are starting from scratch on that too...

Concepts are a long ways from actual designs/final engineering.
They might have a full plan in place, complete with full decisions on type/size/etc for the interchanges, but there's now way they've done the full engineering on them, as that would be a lot of money to spend prior to committing to the project.

Add in a planning period to figure out how to actually build this stuff without shutting down the whole road and you've got quite a bit of work that needs to happen before you start moving any dirt.

Definitely, but NDP might not be in power at that time. Makes sense to get that out while they are in power and get some mileage out of this.

Infrastructure improvements are definitely needed and can serve as an achievement.
