Default Any good sushi restaurants in Calgary?

Can anyone recommend a nice place? Some place where you can get fresh sashimi and nigiri?

Sushi Bar Zipang is my favorite.
Definitely on the pricey side, but really good stuff.

I like Zippang, but I don't know, to me it feels like it's slightly over-rated.

My favorite is Shikiji on Centre and 16th.

Momoyama on Richmond & 37th. Yume Sushi in Avenida is also pretty good.

Li-Ao Sushi in Bridlewood is the best sushi I've had in town.

Although for straight up Sashimi I really like Kinjo. Good size pieces and it's rare that their stringy. Don't really like Kinjo for anything else though.

Has anyone been to Ki on 4 Ave across from the Westin? I've been thinking about going there next time I'm in town (since I usually stay at the Westin).

Love me some Li-Ao. It's our go to (but that with proximity being a factor as well). They're just so g-damn NICE.

In terms of straight value for dollar, Momoyama is easily the best in the city. Consistent quality, and reasonably priced.

However, I'd put Red Ember in Kensington above Momoyama in terms of quality. It's simply the best plate for plate sushi I've had in the city. But it's pricier and the service is a little hit & miss. I feel like the owner/chef needs to whip his front of house staff into shape a bit more, less facebooking on their iPhones, more serving the customers.

But yeah, Momoyama and Red Ember are my #1 and #2 for sushi.

Kinjo does indeed have generously fat pieces of sashimi. Their nigiri are pleasantly large pieces too. I like Kinjo all around though.

It's a godsend if you have young children. The place is crawling with kids and it's very loud so you don't feel bad about when they scream! The sushi and overall menu is very solid and reasonably priced. The Dalhousie location is the one we go to, not sure about the Macleod one.

It is pretty good, but expensive. We only go there when the company is buying!

We quite enjoy Kinjo. We have a 7 and 4 year old sushi monsters. And it is good that it loud for us since our kids are loud. The Sapporo is also cheap!

I had Sushi at a little place 32nd ave and I think 20th street in a little strip and it was outstanding. The service was just ok but the Sushi was tasty
