Default Globefish Shut Down Due to Roaches. UPDATE: Now Open for Sr. Mints!

hmmm maybe it was their lunch special. Wonder what a large amount would be?

The Kensington location of Globefish Sushi has been ordered to close its doors after cockroaches were found during an inspection.

Alberta Health Services released the notice of closure Thursday, after the inspection revealed a large amount of cockroaches in the glue traps and live cockroaches at the popular sushi restaurant.

Go around the block to Sushi Club. Cleaner, no cockroaches, and much better sushi anyways.

I lived in an apartment in Chinatown that had bakery and restaurants on the main floor. A couple of cockroaches made it up to our apartment. Not sure if the dumbwaiter was partly responsible for their spread throughout the building.

I liked Globefish and the noodle place next to it. I wonder if some part of Japanese culture prevented employees from speaking up.

Japanese actually run the place? Most sushi places I've been to are staffed by Chinese.

Are cockroaches in themselves a big deal? Or are they just a sign of a bigger issue? I honestly don't understand what health issues are associated with roaches.

I bet these things add some real nice texture and crunch to the rainbow rolls.

First rats, now cockroaches. Alberta border patrol needs to step it up a notch.

Calgary has had cockroaches a whole lot longer than we've had rats.

Before you eat somewhere you've never been check their history with Alberta Health service.

http://www.restaurantinspections.ca/...isclosure.aspx

http://www12.albertahealthservices.c...h-inspections/

My in-law works in Public health. I was a little disappointed it took him 7 years to tell me about this site. We were going to order from a place no had been and he asked me if I had checked AHS inspection site.

You can find globefish kennsington in the second link.

Nov 6 - Inspection Report, Order Lifted Verbally
- No Violations Found.

Nov 5th - Violations - INFESTATION - Significant evidence of a pest infestation was found at this food establishment. The commercial food establishment and any surrounding area, premises or facilities supporting the food establishment must be kept free of pests and of conditions that lead to the harbouring or breeding of pests. AR 31/2006 s 21(1)

Nov 5 comments - LARGE AMOUNT OF COCKROACHES FOUND IN THE GLUE TRAPS, LIVE COCKROACH FOUND ON A TUB BY THE ICE MACHINE.
ENSURE THIS FACILITY IS PROFESSIONALLY TREATED FOR COCKROACHES. THROW OUT ALL OPEN FOOD.

I can remember when I was a kid (which is not recently), that there was a news story of a bunch of townhomes on 33Ave SW that had to be fumigated because they were overrun with roaches. Cockroaches in Calgary aren't a new and unheard of thing.
