Good Food in Red Deer?
Gotta work in Red Deer this week, so I'll be staying there until Saturday.
I want to avoid ordering pizza to my room every night or eating fast food garbage. Any local gems to recommend?
I worked for a week in Red Deer back in March. Quite bland and not close to anything interesting as far as I could tell. I'll likely only put in 4 hours a day so I'll have ample time to sit around killing my boredom with food.

I was there in the Summer, there was some fine talent there. (and the food was good too.)

Places that I enjoy in the city:
Original Joes - higher end on the price scale, but really good food. It's set in a former automobile shop, and the atmosphere is quite unique.
Moxies - you probably get the same thing in Calgary, but still a great place to eat. Again, fairly pricey, but the portions justify the cost.
The Rock - a rock and roll themed pizzeria. Try the day-trippers, they are mini, dippable calzones.
China Ben's - so far, the best Chinese Food I have found in Red Deer. The atmosphere leaves a lot to be desired, but the food is top notch. You get 10% off any pick-up order over $20.
Menchies - not sure if this is in Calgary, but it's a self-serve frozen yogurt stand. Pick your own flavor and toppings/sauces, and pay based on weight. Tastes like soft-serve ice cream, if the thought of something similar to Yogen Fruz turns you off.
Phils - several of them in Calgary as well, so you may have eaten there. Serves breakfast all day, and does it much better than places like Dennys and Smittys. Not outstanding by any means, but very reliable and you get what you pay for.
Las Palmeras - never eaten there myself, but I only ever hear good things. Mexican cuisine.
All that I can think of off the top of my head, but I'll post more if they come to me.

I'm a big fan of George's (67th and Gaetz). Haven't been in years but remember it being excellent.

As mention by yammer, Los palmers, you can thank me after you have eaten there. Next best place would be my in-laws.
Also enjoyed the rusty pelican as well, but I can't recall if it is still open.

Gotta say I'm a little surprised to see Los Palmeras getting mentioned. I went there in August because I love Mexican food and I found it to be average at best. Maybe I went there on a bad day, who knows, but my meal was pretty tasteless and I thought overpriced. To each their own though.
I had the lunch buffet at The Rock and it was quite tasty. That's my recommendation.

Been to Los Palmeros a couple of times. My wife and I enjoyed the food both times.

Ranch House on Gaetz & 71st is good. Their burgers are good, not pricey.
Shiso is good if you're into Sushi.
Cleopatras if you're into donairs.
Buster's Pizza, only for pizza though, not for donair.
Indian Flame is downtown, $15 lunch buffet, good food, Naan bread is amazing.
It's all Greek to me - Only go lunch time though, the price for the same food doubles at dinner time. You get a ton of food though.
Piccolos Pizza on Taylor is good as well.
Bo's is good for a night out (Red Deer Standards), decent food too, lotsa eye candy.
Mucho Burrito is decent as well.
Mr. Mikes is ok but pricey.
That's all I can think of.

Piccolos, good call. The only place I consistently order pizza from.

If you like Indian there is:
Astha:
http://www.astha.ca/ Up on Taylor and 67. Very good food.
Also, if bored take a drive to Sylvan (10-15 mins) and eat at the Bamboo Hut down just of Lakeshore. Very Good as well.

Ah I may just do that. I was hoping someone would have a good Thai suggestion.
I was going to say I am turned off by most Indian food but after checking out Astha's menu, that place sounds delicious. I'm staying at Taylor and 67, so I will certainly check it out. Hopefully I don't look like an idiot eating there alone.
Anyone have any suggestions for a good escort service?

Is this a joke? Ouch.
If you are worried about how you will look eating alone, you've probably got some pretty bad underlying confidence issues. Bring a book, or work. I used to do it all the time.

Hit up The Rock tonight.
Good pizza. Best I've had in Alberta so far. Tried the day trippers too. Neat flavored ice tea varieties as well.
Great decor and the preggo waitress was a sweetheart.
Odd that Red Deer is the home of their only Canadian location.

They are building one in Royal Oak currently. They were supposed to be open last spring but keep pushing back the opening.

Can't help on the escorts, but I think you would enjoy the Bamboo Hut, it is small and laid back. Take a drive it is worth it.
