I don't care that he is hanging out with her, but I find it pretty unbelievable that a Navy SEAL wouldn't play an active role in protecting the sub and completing the 'mission.'

What was up with the minerals plotline that was introduced today? There was already enough going on without it.

I didn't mind it, not like they spent a ton of time on it. It'll be something to think about for the season I guess. I like it when they set up a longer surprise, we'll see how long it takes for them to explain the importance of it to us.

Question: why is it that people in movies/TV always have to share one pair of binoculars?

Heh, dunno, good point!
Todays episode was good I thought. The senator (or whomever) shooting the secretary and negotiator caught me by surprise.

So much for that... Last resort is getting cancelled after 13 episodes.

Last Resort, which I thought was the best new network show of the season, was ambitious, serialized, and challenging, exactly the kind of show that fails on network television. It couldn't have been a cheap show to make, which probably contributed to its sinking.

Writer for the show confirms.

We will film and and air all 13 episodes. We're going to give you no-holds barred kick-ass ending.

At least we'll get an action packed remaining set of episodes.

Last Resort is one of the only good shows ABC has made in decades? (Once Upon a Time is a Fables rip off and it deserves no credit)
Of course it will get cancelled.
Unless it has a stupid plot, crappy jokes, moron characters, it can't survive on network television, the average American audience is just too dumb to follow if a show has an actual plot.

I'm disappointed but not surprised. The first 40 or so minutes of the first epsisode had me hooked, but each and every episode after that had me slowly realising they were just trying to stretch out the central story.. I think I could list at least 10 meaningless subplots trying to do just that. But the first episode had such promise that I'm sad to see this show cancelled.
edited to add: I think after "Lost", mainstream viewers are weary of 'mystery' shows that do not seem to answer questions raised, or forget them entirely, but only add more melodrama to each episode.

It probably had to be the cost of the show. Neighbors is going to cost way less relative to ratings. I mean Last resort does have a whole submarine set, tons of marine tac gear, explosives, weapons, vehicles, dive equipment, not to mention a whole tropical island on the books.
If even the best performing shows in the genre can't keep up with reality TV like American Idol in ratings, you know what's going to get produced more. For example American Idol clocked 30+million viewers vs 24's season peak 9+ million. I blame the demographic of the American masses just as much as ABC cheapness. Though I guess the premise of the show itself didn't seem like it could last more than a couple of seasons anyways like some others have said.
EDIT: Wtf Americans? Elementary with crappy Lucy Lieu has more viewers than Last Resort? 10m vs 9m?

I am surprised by the general approval rating by CP members of this board. I gave it a chance, but it really is completely hokey. The writing/acting/situation-setup is laughable.

It started off pretty good but has fallen off the last few episodes. They need to get back on track with the story and ignore the stupid side stuff.

I didn't mind it, the story was getting a little too convoluted for its own good.
I have to admit that a lot of the technical aspects of the show were driving me crazy, including the firing keys being within reach of each other on the bridge.
That and the fact that a what looks to be a Ohio class missile boat was maneuvering like a Jet Fighter.
