Wha? Cash only operation with hand written receipts - that has to be accurate for tax purposes, right?

My wife went to a nail place in Aspen that stated only cash sales on Sunday...wtf...I told her ask for receipt but they said no so I reported them. Not sure if it did anything but it sure made me feel better. Why do I have to pay full tax on my pay while you lie and steal from the honest people?

Expanding to Red Deer?
http://www.calgaryherald.com/busines...057/story.html
I thought the buyers agreed to never franchise Peter's?
The company could also expand further in the future. It is looking for land in Edmonton and has spoken to a real estate agent in Saskatchewan.
Peters’ was established in Calgary in 1962 by Gus Pieters and it was purchased in October 2005 by Rowe and her husband Stephen Hayden.

Opening another location is different then franchising though.
Quote:
The Red Deer location will be a company-owned store.
“We don’t want to franchise as we want to have total control over all of our operations,” said Rowe. “We want customers to receive exactly what they would receive if they came to Calgary and we believe the best way to do that is to have some of our great people make it all happen. We will find an excellent Red Deer general manager and that person will work in Calgary for a few months and then report directly to our president all of which will enable us to deliver exactly what we serve in Calgary.”

this will probably be the downfall of Peters. I think their reputation will take a big hit when non-Calgarians actually taste their mediocre food and wonder how it ever got so popular.

As a born/raised Calgarian, I still do not get the appeal of this place. Obviously it nostalgia and mostly Hype, but god, its terrible.
Sure they're milkshakes are okay, but nothing special (who wants drinkable consistency anyways). Burgers are downright cafeteria like (yes I want a patty and a half), fries are standard (yes I want a metric tonne of fries), and everything else is pretty average for bottom end fast food. Add in crazy lines and horrid street access, and you've got yourself a cultural icon!

ALL ABOARD!

If they treat it like Ikea (one location per city) they could build a very healthy and easily managed business. If they try multiple locations per city the charm runs off more quickly.

Count me as another person that never quite understood the appeal of the food. Perhaps it was better when it opened, or everywhere else simply surpassed them in terms of quality, but I will probably never eat there again. Also, I've had better milkshakes at Dairy Queen.
