If we are trading for Toews and giving up top value like Hanifin and a recent 1st round pick Lucic has to go the other way.

Watching TSN sounds like Keith is the only guy that might want to move. Toews, and Kane have said they won’t waive and don’t want to leave Chicago.

???? Toews has been great for the last couple of years. If Chicago retained 40% of his contract they would get a massive haul. That said I doubt they would ever consider retaining 40 %

Retaining 40% of Toews salary is probably worth atleast a 2nd round pick for each year of retention.

Hanifin+Pelletier form the value for Toews, 1st 2021 for the retention, ryan for salary purposes.

Gives us this roster with ~1.5 million to sign the 6th RD. This would be an "all in" move in hopes we're cup hunting over the next two seasons.
No way does Chicago retain 40%. Retaining is rare, or so I'm told, so it'll never happen.

Man, if only there were more rumours and potential deals to discuss. I wish NHL GM’s weren’t all so risk adverse, and get all faint and a flutter at even the mention of an Offer Sheet.

Like, you’re all going to just stand back and wait for Tampa to figure out how to sign Cirelli and Sergachev? I know a lot of teams (the Flames included) are tight against the cap, but surely someone must have some space. Or is the issue that no one will sign sheets with the likes of Ottawa, Detroit and Jersey?

I find Nashville to be a mystery. Tons of cap space, and seems like it would be a fun place to play. Why not dangle 4 X $5.5 in front of Cirelli or Strome?

I listened to the Daily Flames Roundtable. It made me want to see Lindholm moved to centre even more. I want the Flames lines to be:

Monahan - Lindholm - Mangiapane
Gaudreau - Backlund - Tkachuk
Lucic - Bennett - Dube
Nordstrom - Ryan - Gawdin.

I feel those lines are balanced, and I think those lines contain the Flames best possible centre group: Lindholm, Backlund, Bennett and Ryan.

Francis is trying so hard to run Gaudreau out of town is the perfect example of why no superstar players want to play in Canada. He goes on to say Monahan won't suffer from a Gaudreau trade HAHAHA has he not seen 90% of Monahans goals? No s*** he's gonna struggle in the playoffs when he's depended on to drive the play each shift. If he had a true #1 centre we wouldn't be talking about his size as much when it comes to the playoffs.

The window for this team is 2-3 years with the way contracts are set up and if they can't go on a deep run this coming season it's over and with the coach we have that's very likely to happen. Brad made some good moves Markstrom is elite and entering his prime and we can stop worrying about goaltending. The defence is still looking solid I would've rather him sign Brodie or Barrie but Tanev will do we needed a vet like him for the young guys on the blue line. Heres where it gets messy ever since the start of last season we all knew we needed another top 6 forward particularly right shot we traded frolik for nothing just to gain the cap to do so and Brad struck out at the deadline and in free agency. Ain't no trades gonna happen this offseason this is the team their rolling with and if scoring is once again a problem and they need to add a top 6 winger they better do so because this teams future as well as Brads depends on it.

Gaudreau has 157 points over the last two years for half the price and people can't wait to get rid of him

Which one of those 2 would show up in the playoffs ? Pretty easy answer.

If they're retaining 4 mil on toews its better than just getting to dump lucic.

One of those players is a two way center with a Conn Smythe trophy and three Stanley Cups and the other is a one dimensional winger that has issues showing up when it matters... I wouldn't want Toews at $10.5M but at like $7M? Yes please.

While what you say is true, this is a historically bad take, and you know it.

Of course, Toews gets his points shutting down the other teams best players.

That must be worth something I would guess.
