Default 2018-2019 Point Predictions

It's looking like a very deep team for next season. There's only a couple forwards that aren't capable of 40 pts in a full season I'd say. (Brouwer and Hathaway)

Give your Predictions based on a minimum of 70 GP. Here are mine:

Gaudreau - 94
Monahan - 70
Lindholm - 55
Tkachuk - 72
Backlund - 47
Neal - 55
Bennett - 40
Jankowski - 43
Ryan - 37
Frolik - 32
Czarnik - 36
Lazar - 23
Hathaway - 14
Brouwer - 22
Foo - 36
Dube - 23

Brodie - 47
Giordano - 50
Hanifin - 38
Hamonic - 21
Andersson - 27
Kulak - 12
Stone - 19

Smith - 57GP, 2.47 GAA, .923 SV%
Gilles - 20GP, 2.81GAA, .913SV%

Tad optimistic I'd say.
You have about 900 points there which in 2 assists per goal would equate to about 300 goals. The highest scoring team last year had 296 goals in Tampa, no one else crossed 280.

On your list from Gaudreau to Neal, lower all by 5. From Bennett to Dube drop all by 10 points. Kulak / Hamonic / Stone, all likely combine for 25 points. Which will equate to 250 goals. Which would be top 10.

There are 16 FWDs there, obviously not all of them will play 70+ games.

You expecting us to lead the league in scoring this year? That's a hell of a lot of career seasons up there.

I like the optimism. I do think that scoring increases (not to the degree estimated!) however I have a feeling that the goalies will be in for a tough season.

You (OP) have predicted the following (level / # of players achieving it):

80: 1
70: 3
60: 3
50: 6
40: 10
30: 15
20: 20

no team in the league came close to that many players at any of the levels from 50 down. Last year, the Flames did the following:

80: 1
70: 1
60: 2
50: 2
40: 6
30: 8
20: 12

And for this year (being wildly optimistic) I will predict:

80: 1 (I think Gaudreau gets 90+)
70: 2
60: 3
50: 5
40: 8
30: 12
20: 15

That would be lights-out, and would likely have the Flames in the top 10 for offense.

270 GF, would've been tied for 3rd in the league last season with Colorado. Crazy to think so? Maybe, but not unrealistic numbers for all given many are younger players continuing to develop and the recent acquisitions can all produce on top of that. (However in reality there are probably 1-2 "busts" in there - I fear Bennett is one, but took the positive outlook here - and probably am overshooting by 20 goals)

Smith
61 starts - %.922
Rittich
21 starts - %.917

Who gets to play on the Flames PP?

Gaudreau
Tkachuk
Monahan
Gio
Neal
---
Lindhom
Backlund
Brodie
Hafinin
Czarnik
Ryan

If the 1st pp guys come reach what most are predicting to get around 3 minutes a game on the PP and they all will have to get 20+ pp pts.

The Flames have shed themselves of Hamilton 2:40 pp / gm 6+6 pp ts and Ferland 1:50 6 +0 = 6 pp pts

They added
Lindholm 2:37 6+3 = 9 PP Pts
Hanifin 1:48 1+6 = 7 PP pts
Ryan 2:01 3+4 = 7 PP pts
Neal 2:27 5+4 = 9 PP pts
Czarnik had 13 of his 25 goals and 30 of his 69 pts on the PP in Providence.

Some players are going to have their PP time cut from what they got last year.

Frolik, Bennett, Jankowski will not see any PP time.

The doing great/ vastly exceeding expectations range for Bennett and Jankowski (assuming no PP pts) and 3rd line minutes is a lot closer to 25-30 pts than 40 pts.

30 Even strength pts was good for 149 th in forward scoring

26 even strength pts was good for 190 th in forward scoring.

149/31 = 4.8

190/ 31 = 6.2

To get 26-30 ES points fits in as the 5-6th highest scoring forward on the average NHL team.

You've got your 10-12 forwards getting 32, 26 and 36 points. That's a lot of production for a 4th line.

And your 5th line is getting 22, 23 and 23 points.

And Hathaway is getting 14 points to boot.

You high ends numbers look realistic, but you won't get that type of production from players playing bottom 6 and beyond minutes.
