I suspect there are many posters here who were huge Expos fans. I know I was even though I did not ever live in Montreal. Any Nationals fans here now?

It would be hard not to still cheer for them passionately for at least 5 years. I've spent too much time following prospects that I would want to see that through.

However, I doubt I would continue to follow the prospects drafted by a team that wasn't in Calgary. So I would slowly phase myself out as a fan.

I'd just happily cheer on the Habs (2nd favourite team).

Although it would be hard not to cheer the Flames players on having followed them for so many years.

Lets face it. The NHL is that interesting of a sport anymore. Taking fighting out and not regulating goalie equipment killed the game. If it wasn't because of nostalgia from watching the Flames since they moved to Calgary I would prob not watch a single regular season game.

So no if the Flames left town the NHL is dead to me.

I think I'd continue to follow individual players, but would lose interest in the team.

I'd probably watch more WHL for my live hockey fix.

This is all theoretical in any event, as I think any move to Seattle is little more than an empty threat. Standard bargaining tactic by professional team "____" (fill in the blank) to attempt to extract more public money.

The Flames are the only thread that ties me to the NHL. All anger and resentment I would have for them moving put to the side I have little doubt apathy would have me forgetting the NHL. Going to live games is a core part of being a Flames fan to me.

No I would not cheer for another team ... i would probably avoid watching NHL hockey all together .... the thought of the Flames leaving Calgary is painful and depressing .... I am a season ticket holder , I'm all in with Calgary ... if this city and team cannot come up with a solution I can see myself being finished with NHL hockey ....

I do although, I'm now a Jays fan first.

If the Flames left I might have to cheer for the Leafs.

No. It would be the thing I need to stop giving a F@#$ about hockey, which frankly takes up too much of my time as it is.

I'd probably watch a game every now and again to see how my favourite players are doing but besides that maybe some stat checking. Otherwise as much as I love and follow the Flames I'd be done with the NHL besides a few playoff matchups.

Nope. Wouldn't want to validate their behavior.

I would willfully avoid watching any of their games (don't want to give them ratings), I'd refuse to buy any merch, and I'd avoid spending any money remotely related to them (I'd boycott all the other properties they own).

Now that I've had time to think about it, I'd probably adopt either the Capitals, Penguins, Leafs, Jets and yes sadly the Oilers as my team.

I followed the Browns when they moved to Baltimore, but I didn't live near or in Cleveland, so I couldn't feel the emotion involved in the moving. This would be different...It may start to feel like the lockout years, when my hockey addiction was tempered, and I realized there were other things to do in life.

P.S. I don't think they will move.

Ya I would for sure. Would probably try to get to Seattle or Vegas once a year to see them.

I'd save a bunch of money not having season tickets haha. The TV I would buy would be ridiculous.

I had this thought too. But truthfully, I'd never watch another period of another NHL game.

The fact that a group of billionaires are unwilling to pay even one-third of the cost of their own project has actually soured me on this season. (And I was more excited about this season than I have been about the Flames in more than a decade.)

If they move to Seattle I'd hope they have the common decency to change the name, the colour scheme, everything.

Call them the Seattle Icehawks or something equally stupid.

"I'd adopt the Oilers"?

Are some of you high? I wouldn't switch to cheering for the Oilers if they changed the team to the ISIS Flames.

I don't even get how you could emotionally switch to Edmonton.

Ultimate bandwagoner.
