Can it even be done in your mind for Phillips? Not over a point per game to get a fair shot in the NHL, you need like 1.5 or 2 pts per game?

You keep those guys as leaders, and they can be traded later. Markstrom in another year or two, and Kadri and Hubderdeau in 4 or 5 years, as you're growing out of the rebuild.

Go through a wall for one guy? That’s a low character perspective.

What about the rest of the organization? You don’t see the entire team coasting like Kadri. Surely Sutter is the same to all of them. Except maybe Backlund, Lewis and Toffoli, who are doing what is expected out of them and he doesn’t need to.

Look at how they rebuilt. Tough players to surround their core with. Size plays. Toughness wins space. Kings look fantastic or just look good compared to us.

Even more mind-blowing is making our two highest paid forwards, with max term, guys who had never played a single game for us.

Paying these guys for all the good things they did for other organizations.
