Holy crap I can’t believe people actually try to defend Alex Burrows. He’s a garbage human being. Just because he visited hospitals (hint: every NHL player does this) does not make him a good person.
Burrows is a joke. Stop defending this guy.

It kinda sounds like you would be fine with N bombs being tossed out there. You've lost the plot, I'm afraid.
I've lost the plot because you assume I'm okay with racism? If he was using racial slurs on the ice and was known for it, it probably would change my opinion on the man. I just don't think that happened. I have no doubt he used homophobic stuff on the ice, but you know what, up until about five years ago so did I. I like many others have made a very strong effort to stop and I hope he did too.
You could make a better argument that Christian Erhoff was the key to the Sedin's trophies.
I think you could certainly make that case, yeah. It's amazing to think back on how perfect he was for the Canucks powerplay and how much it suffered after he left.
Burrows was just the first winger they ever had that would always go to the right place for a pass, whether it was to keep the cycle going or to finish it off. He complimented them so well. It was incredibly lucky for him as well though, no doubting that.

Even Kesler. His two best years in terms of offensive point totals were the years the Sedins won back to back Art Ross trophies. Having a scoring threat on the 2nd line helped give the Sedins more space as teams couldn't dedicate all their attention on the Sedin line.
Yep, the diving as dumb, the biting was dumb but you guys just aren't going to change many minds by bringing it up. It's not like we missed it and are going to be surprised by it.
You can see the confusion. I'm thinking no way people in Vancouver would be fans of his if they knew he was such a ###### no matter how much community stuff he did. But turns out, we were wrong....a little community service helps fans overlook that stuff apparently.

Equating being a dickhead in a sport where trash talking is common and lines are probably crossed every third game and a racist movement that lynched and killed black people throughout the 1800 and 1900s is not nailing it.
Not just being a dickhead.
Being the biggest dickhead in a sport where trash talking is common and lines are seldom crossed to the point where players are calling someone out in public.
And Burrows didn't really apologize to, or even at O'Sullivan. He said to some reporters, "I'm sorry if he was offended."
Which is basically sorry, not sorry. Not an apology, and it was only done because his actions came to light.
I get it. He was a good player. I like having Kassian on the Oilers. Never will be a fan of him as a person though. He's an idiot.

Your response sounds a little like Trump's "locker-room talk" excuse, and while I think it is good that Burrows eventually apologized to O'Sullivan, it strikes me as hollow that it took him so long to do so, and only well after he was being publicly criticized for it.
But moreover, there are not a lot of guys who have been singled out by other players for the unacceptable level of their on-ice trash-talk. Burrows is one of a select few, and I think that speaks pretty powerfully to the kind of person he is.

I thought Kassian has gotten through the stupid phase and was making an attempt to get better and sort his life out?
It's a bit sad to hear if he isn't. I really liked him as a player.

You are not wrong I suppose, my answer does read like that, but I really don't mind what gets said in the heat of competition. I tend to let it go as soon as the game is done and I thought that outlook as fairly prevalent in sports. If I'm in the minority maybe I need to reevaluate how I go about things. But I've never really had an issue with anyone once the game has finished, nor has anyone really had an issue with me that we didn't just talk about afterwards over beer.
Chris Brown nearly beat someone to death. Please show me in which situation Alexandre Burrows locked someone in a car and hit them and nearly choked them to death and only stopped when they started screaming for their life?
Biting a finger is clearly on the same level, I guess. My mistake.
I never said they were on the same level. But it's the same principle. And just because there's an even bigger prick around the corner doesn't excuse the fact that he is, himself, a prick.
The incidents themselves haven't been as severe, no, but there have been plenty of them. If they were one-off incidents, maybe you could excuse them. But all the little things add up to paint a picture of who little Alexandre Burrows really is.
Just another random Burrows memory: When the Tortarella/Hartley locker room hallway fight happened, guess which Canuck was the one who had to be dragged away from the whole thing?
Absolutely hilarious (yet totally unsurprising) to see Canucks fans try to turn a blind eye to Burrows' vile behaviour by calling it "trash talk".
Mocking someone for being abused as a child isn't trash talk.
It's being a disgusting, waste of a human being.
There's no excusing what a POS this guy is. Going one further and excusing / cheering for him is just pretty typical for the high percentage of bad apples in that fanbase.
Didn't miss it. I just hold you to a higher standard and ignore it from you.
I'm not ignoring it. I'm hitting the stuff that keeps getting brought up as a reason to hate him.
Who did he racially taunt? I must have missed that, unless you mean the Tootoo thing that an NHL official sitting between them heard and said nothing racial was said, so he wasn't suspended.
The Taylor Hall thing was hot garbage and he was dumb as #### to do it. I'm still not sure that's on the same level as being a member of the Klan or trying to kill his girlfriend though.
That 19-year-old goalie was straight up spearing Burrows through out the game. Oh poor him, I am shocked he eventually got cross-checked while doing that. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes, though this goes for Burrows too. I do question Burrows still going infront of the net at that point, probably has to be smarter.
I like you a lot better when you make posts like this, as opposed to your Reggie Dunlop impression.
It may or may not be relevant but he was known to use racial epithets during his ball hockey days. Canucks fans will turn a blind eye but he was a terrible person on and off the ice.

Get me a citation on that and I'll join the hate parade.
With fans like these I'm thinking Voynov ends up in Vancouver.
#### me, you guys really like trying to associate a guy who was a piece of #### while playing a sport with guys who beat the #### out of or attempted to kill their wives/girlfriends.
