^Yes do not do it now. We will post when you can. The off-season is chaotic so we take things one step and a time.

I thought we just took the sim positions as gospel last season.

Nope. It's better this way though. More position eligibility just gives GMs more options.

Yes, we did take it as gospel last season, but there was a short window before the season began where positions could be added. Once we were set we were set for the whole season with no changing afterward

How is the sim impacted by playing players out of position (ex playing a centre on the wing)?

I tried finding out that answer once and the only thing I found that players are impacted when played out of position. That there is a negative impact written in but I have no idea how big or small it actually is.

I do know that playing a player out of position on the PP has zero effect. Only regular lineups.

I find it fascinating trying to understand the SIM but for every season where you think you found something the next season, I find I don't see the same similarities.

You don’t have to worry about that as you are only allowed to play guys in positions they have in the sim.

I could have sworn I set lines with wingers playing centre or vice versa when I had injuries.

may I ask why Eliteprospects is no longer acceptable? Not complaining, I'm just curious. I actually prefer them to hockeyDB these days.

Because often they will show position someone played as a prospect and not as a pro

The sim will let you but it’s again league rules
You can play guys in multiple positions but only those they actually have for them in the sim
So if Taylor hall doesn’t show lw as a position in the sim you aren’t supposed to play him there

Oh I see. Are there repercussions for doing that or is the goal just to have people not put them in those positions?

http://cphlsim.com/rules/ (and I know it's not necessarily up to date) seems to state that you can't have a player like Brent Burns for example play on the 1st defence pairing and also 2nd line LW or something like that.

Quote:
Each player must be assigned a single position for use in the sim. You may send in a position request with proof they can play elsewhere but a player can only play one position at one time. For instance a player cannot play RW on the PK and D on the PP.

I need to update the rules but haven’t got around to them. The stickies threads provide any changes since then
The league largely operates on the honour system but if someone is deliberately breaking rules they could be fired
