Default Day 5 (PM of Tuesday Feb 13 - AM of Wednesday Feb 14)

**** Just a disclaimer that they’re changing the channels that events are scheduled for a lot more than in Olympics past. So I’ve included the channels that events should be on but I can’t promise they’ll be accurate.****

The Men’s Curling Tournament begins at 17:05 with Canada taking on Italy. Kevin Koe’s rink out of the Glencoe Club of Calgary is trying to win Canada’s 4th Olympic Gold in a row in this event. This should be on Sportsnet. Other matches happening at this time include Denmark vs. Sweden, South Korea vs. USA, and Switzerland vs. Great Britain.

The Pairs Short Program is scheduled to begin at 18:00 and should be on TSN and large part of it will probably be shown on CBC as well. Kirsten Moore-Towers (Silver in the 2014 Team Event) and Michael Marinaro will be the 11th pair to skate. The 2014 ISU Junior Grand Prix Finals Gold Medalists Julianne Seguin and Charlie Bilodeau make their Olympic debuts skating as the 14th pair. Fresh off of their Gold Medals in the Team Event Meghan Duhamel and Eric Radford (who just became the World's first openly gay male to win an Olympic Winter Gold!) skate as the 19th pair, they finished 7th in this event in Sochi but skated very well a few days ago.

The Women’s Slalom begins at 18:15 and should be on TSN2. Erin Mielzynski is skiing in her 3rd Olympics while Ronni Remme and Laurence St-Germain are competing in their first Olympics. American skiing superstar Mikaela Shiffrin is defending the Gold Medal.

The Final of the Men’s Halfpipe will begin at 18:30.

Group B action in the Women’s Hockey Tournament begins at 20:10 as Sweden takes on Switzerland. Doesn’t seem like this will be televised but will be available to be streamed.

The second and final run of the Women’s Slalom begins at 21:45 and should be on TSN2.

The Women’s Curling Tournament begins at 22:05 with Japan vs, USA, Ruassia, vs. Great Britain, Denmark vs. Sweden, and Switzerland vs. China. Canada will play their first matches tomorrow.

The Ski Jumping component of the Nordic Combined Event begins at 23:00, the Cross Country sould start at 01:45. There are no Canadians participating.

At 00:40 Korea and Japan face off in more Group B action in Women’s Hockey. Doesn’t seem like this one will be televised either but will be able to be streamed.

On CBC at 03:00 the Women’s 1000m Final begins in Long Track. Calgarian Kaylin Irvine skates in the 8th pairing and is looking to improve on the 17th place finish in Sochi in this event. Heather McLean makes her Olympic debut in the 10th pairing.

At 04:05 the Men’s Curling Tournament continues for Canada as Kevin Koe’s rink takes on the team from Great Britain in a match that should be on CBC.

On Sportsnet 1 the Women’s 15km Individual Biathlon begins at 04:05.

At 04:20 the first of two runs in the Luge Doubles will begin and should be on CBC. Calgarians Tristan Walker (actually grew up in Cochrane) and Justin Snith will be the 9th pair to slide. Walker and Snith finished in 4th in Sochi and are looking to improve on that. The 2nd run will begin following the first run.

At 05:10 the Men’s Hockey Tournament begins. Russia takes on Slovakia on Sportsnet while the USA plays Slovenia on TSN.

I think that's everything, Go Canada!

Sweet! I do really like those. What I'm really curious about though is where I can get the snowboard jacket our team has been wearing. I know they're made by Burton but I can't find them for sale.

From This article about the jackets:

"Unfortunately these designs are not available for retail, however an original Corrine Hunt sweater design be found here."

Yeah, first three ends blanked, forcing your opponent to score is considered a victory. I've been wondering why we don't see "blank until 10" strategies in curling and have assumed that it's considered unsportsmanlike, but with the abilities teams have to make takeouts these days it seems like it would be quite feasible.

After getting used to watching the Mixed Doubles, regular curling just seems so crowded.

Bouton is getting death threats and had to close her twitter. RCMP has been called in. Korea's nasty Internet culture goes international.

What, because someone ahead of her got DQ'd, like that's even her fault? That's pretty dumb.

Regardless of who won, it was pretty fun watching the 2 best go toe to toe like that. About as dramatic as an event like that can go. No judging controversy and the only mistakes were from trying to outdo the other.
