The great deliver consistently.
De Grasse is truly great.
I vividly remember watching Donovan in Atlanta. This will be right there through time. Best alarm I have set in a very long time

Not at the Olympics but at various track events yes. I think there are relay world championships where there is a 4x200.

its particularly common indoors (as most indoor tracks are 200m)
the current generation of Canadian men have run some good 4x200 times

I guess that is the right comparison, but in Swimming the equivalent almost feels like throwing in diving, artistic swimming and some water polo
those decathlon guys are nuts- even once you get your head around the 3 runs, then throw in the technical hurdles, switch gears to 3 very different throws, then jumps, then lets just sneak in pole vault??!!??

we were discussing this in the thread a few days ago but looks like Andre is now tied with 5 others for most medals by a Canadian male olympian (5) of those only Phil Edwards (5 bronze) is a summer olympian so I think DeGrasse comfortably slides into the conversation of greatest Canadian Male summer athlete (** there can continue to be healthy debate of course as not all disciplines allow multiple medal opportunities)
Canada now joins the US as the only 2 countries to have 3 different men take the gold medal at 200m (never mind that the other 2 were 93 and 113 years ago)

Watched the race on replay...damn, that was a thrill. You knew Andre has a great final 100m, so it was the bend (and start) that was important...i think you saw DeGrasse have another gear with 60m left as he was neck and neck at that point.
awesome to see him round out his medal collection!
Brown didn't get a medal, but 6th fastest in the world is pretty amazing...hoping that the relay team has enough gas to get him a medal of some kind.

It's too bad that Canada can't (or wont?) run Warner in the 100m relay. his times in the 100M decathlon would make him a faster option for Canada for sure.

There's no reason why they couldn't. They can't run him tonight in round one though while the decathlon is on, and obviously they haven't practiced with him.

Warner is an incredible athlete- but he's also going to (likely) be a bit tired post decathlon
I think his times are more or less in line with the next range of Canadians anyways (although some of them are a few years removed from PBs) Blake, Boateng (although he looked hurt in the 100 prelims), Smellie, Rodney, even Bolade Ajomale who I don't know as much about personally
at that point probably more than the pure speed you are looking at exchanges as being the difference maker so practice and comfort level with one another is going to be a big piece too
not to mention some guys just 'bring it' and are suited for relays, but our head coach will know a thing or two about that...it was Boateng, Blake, Bolade and DeGrasse I think that were the group that qualified us- clearly need to make room for AKB

By the way, if Warner and LePage both medal, it'll be the first time since 1956 (shooting) that two Canadians medal in the same event at a summer games.
