Eovaldi for 2/34 to the Rangers. Not a bad deal.

Eovaldi is a very underrated pitcher. In a year like this that deal is a steal. Would have been nice as the #5, especially when he's dealing, he gets the K's.

Kluber for 1/10 to Boston. I’m kinda hoping for Cueto now.

Lol on Correa. I think the issue was neither the Mets nor Giants could get insurance for their deals. Guess I’m surprised they wouldn’t go shorter on the term.

I admit I thought a team would pay minimum 7 or 8 year deal to take a flyer. Certainly didn’t expect Minnesota come in again at 6 years. Still a hefty deal but nowhere near what he thought he’d get. Couldn’t happen to a nicer guy (though he’s still $200MM richer).

I'll say this about Correa, he upped his AAV.
SF: $26.9 million
NYM: $26.25 million
Twins: $33.33 million
Still imagine it ends up costing him as he is unlikely to be a SS for his next deal.

Has there ever been a FA deal that works out past 6 years or so? Almost everyone who is a top player today won't end up being so a few years down the line. Certainly there are HOFers who do, but those are the rare exception. Better to never bother signing someone for longer than that - could be Vlad or anyone. Odds are you'll be handcuffed down the road.

Well the math idea is you figure out how much money a win gives you and then you can basically year by year see how much +/- they got over the length. No one argues that that years past 5-6 won’t suck but they’re betting that the positive value in the first five years outweighs the negative later. Since a win now is like 8-10 million these 30 million dollar a year deals are basically assuming like a 3.5 win player.

The electronic strike zone will be used in all 30 Class AAA parks in 2023, sources told ESPN, seemingly another significant step toward the implementation of the technology at the big league level in the near future.
The Automatic Balls and Strikes system, commonly referred to as ABS, will be deployed in two different ways. Half of the Class AAA games will be played with all of the calls determined by an electronic strike zone, and the other half will be played with an ABS challenge system similar to that used in professional tennis.

Will be interesting. I think it leads to more walks and runs. The strike zone is actually smaller than the umps usually call it.

The challenge system is great and they should go to it immediately
Showing on the big screen and having fans cheer or boo is great for fan interaction
Plus getting mad at the player who wastes a challenge on a wrong call cause their eye sucks will add a good dimension to hating a player

I cannot wait for this tech to be used along with the challenge.
Consistency and the removal of unpire ego is all I want.

They must be super confident the kid has his head on his shoulders to be handing that out. Not to mention his upside. I don't follow soccer but don't they groom prospects from a young age by signing them when they're 12 and bringing them up in their system?
