2a for Nikolayev on the 7th in a 6-1 victory over Des Moines. Sergeev stops 18 of 19.
No points for Nik on the 8th against Waterloo in a 4-1 win. Sergeev stops 21 of 22.

Sergeev: 1.60 GAA, .932%. Sergeev is first in the USHL in wins (18), GAA, and SV%. The next highest SV% is .920, followed by .913.

Nikolaev was awarded another assist from the Omaha game. 27gp/9g/20a/29pts,+16, 27 PIM. He's tied for 24th in the USHL, although he's played at least 1 game less than the players he's tied with. Of the players ahead of him in the scoring race, only 16 have a better p/gp than his 1.07.
Jackson Blake, the son of former NHLer Jason Blake, leads the USHL with 50 pts in 32 games. He's a draft pick of Carolina's.

Jan.21:
Nikolaev with 3a,+2 in a 5-1 win over Sioux Falls. 28gp/9g/23a/32pts,+18, 27 PIM. He is now tied for 19th in USHL scoring, 5th in +/-. Only 10 players ahead of him in scoring have a better p/gp than his 1.14.
Goalie Sebastian Wraneschitz stopped 22 of 23, as Sergeev was serving his suspension.
Tri-City is now in first place, 5 points and 2 games in hand over Chicago. TC's Goals against of 55 is by far the best in the league-the next lowest is 87. Sergeev has a lot to do with that, but his team obviously plays very well in front of him.

To me he's trending towards someone like ex leaf great Dimitry Kulikov. Won't score a ton but a positive contribution on 200 feet of ice.

Perhaps you're thinking of Igor Korolev? Sergei Berezin? Either way, I agree-he was advertised at the draft as being very conscious of his 200-ft game, and he's showing that. Top-20 in USHL scoring, top-5 in +/-.
EDIT: In 2008-09, Mikael Backlund (in his D+2 year) was sent to the Kelowna Rockets, where he put up a mere 30pts in 28 games (1.07 ppg), and his status as an NHLer was questioned. At 28 games, Nikoleev had 32pts (1.14 ppg) in a league that's considered hard to score in. Backlund's situation, as well as his style, are remarkably similar to that of Nikolaeev.
