Christ no. We showed up at 12:00 noon for a 2:30 PM flight to Vegas and ended up through security by 12:30, leaving us with almost two hours to kill.

I mean it was great because we spent the time drinking and chatting with a couple bartenders we knew, but still. Unless you want to spend excess time in the airport, two hours is too much as it is. Three hours is excessive IMO.

And mandatory masking? A completely inconsistent policy that continues to create issues.

*sigh* I wish.

The mask requirement for people on trains and planes will remain, according to two of the sources.
This is the part that I really can’t wait to GTFO. Playing “Simon Says” fifty times with your goddamn mask is a f’ing chore. They need to knock it off already. If people want to wear it, let them, but this crap has gone on long enough.

There was an article that mentioned the mask mandate might go away after Thanksgiving (I'm assuming they mean Canadian Thanksgiving.)

Roughly half of the world's countries have removed all covid related entry requirements, for everyone, regardless of vaccination status.

As of October 1st, Thailand will become the 107th country to do so.

Remember, this was all about following science all along. We thank the government today on doing a great job protecting Canadians.

That and...Biden asked to knock it off.

Nah. Politicians mostly care about winning elections. PP had made arrivecan his number one issue and was scoring points with it. This is Trudeau taking that arrow away from him.

Ill probably still wear a mask in the airport and on a plane, but I am glad it is now personal choice at this point in the pandemic.

We’re flying in 10 days out of the country. Our KN95 masks will stay on and I hope our seat mates do the same.

If your concerned about catching covid in a plane and going to wear masks, better wear some glasses as well, covid can go through the eyes. The mask won't fully protect you

Its not only about covid, it is also about complete strangers breathing in your face for hours on end. I too will still be wearing a mask during flights out of respect for those sitting close by. That and the fact that we've learned you cannot trust other people. And I'm as anti mask as you will find on this forum.

I will tell you my personal experience. I returned from an 18 day trip to the Arctic 2 weeks ago. It was a small expedition boat, 116 passengers. Prior to boarding, we all had to prove that we had 2 vaccinations and 1 booster as well as getting a PCR test or antigen test from a list of accredited drugstores and the like. We were told that we were going to be tested at least 3 times while on board too.

We met in Toronto and then had a charter flight to Greenland where we got on our ship. From there on, we were an enclosed group.

We were first tested day 2 or 3, and already 5 tested positive for COVID. They used the same antigen type of test that I had from a drugstore in Calgary. Those people had to quarantine in their cabins. Staff could not go in to clean or anything else.

By day 8 or 9, 24 tested positive and by the last test, 3 days before we disembarked, 33 tested positive for COVID.

Outside of while eating, we wore masks the whole time, even outdoors on the Zodiacs.

There were 11 Canadians on board, none of us got COVID. On the charter flight, I happened to be sitting right beside a couple from Britain who got COVID in the first group. There were 5 at our dining table, a couple from Britain and 3 Canadians. The couple from Britain got COVID around day 5 but us Canadians never and we were right beside them, unmasked while eating.

It seemed that mainly the British were getting it, as well as some from Australia and 2 from Hong Kong.

Outside of us Canadians, none had to wear masks on the planes they were arriving from. Also, most of the British had received J&J vaccines. I don't know if that is coincidental or not but it certainly seemed suspicious to me.

It’s helpful, even though it doesn’t fully protect you.

What’s the recommended airport arrival time for a domestic flight? Is two hours sufficient?
