I Kill Giants really was disappointing. The trailer makes it look much more exciting than it was. Visually it was pretty neat but those bits are few and far between. I was expecting something more along the lines of Harry Potter (not Porter) but it was just boring.

Is that Harry Potter's butler?

Just watched Bjorg vs McEnroe, was a fantastic watch. They really dig deep into the pysche of each players, and I learned that Bjorg was a very good hockey player as well. He copied his two handed backhand from his slap shot which I had no idea. I would say that it's one of the better sports movies of recent times and Shia Labeouf and Sverrir Gudason did terrific jobs

Related story. I made a bet as to who could drive a golf ball further with wrong handed clubs. The guy I bet against is a competitive tennis player. He said he had never hit a golf club wrong handed, then he stepped up and smoked a drive that many shooting their strong hand would envy.
Oh, this is a movie thread. Saw that Like Father on Netflix. It was ok. Estranged father reconnecting with his daughter after she gets left at the altar. Played like a non romantic rom com. Pretty run of the mill, wouldn’t recommend anyone go out of their way to watch it.

I enjoyed that one, but I'm a sucker for anything with Kelsey Grammer in it.
A few of us watched it when it was the movie of the week on iTunes and we all quite enjoyed it.
I watched Battle of the Sexes and I really liked it a lot, yeah they tried to cram a lot of story into it with the Billy Jean King likes girls in it, along with the Riggs struggles with his wife.
But the acting in it was outstanding, and I thought that they captured the actual game really well. There wasn't a lot of creative license to it.
I think the thing that got me was that I had to look up Riggs afterwords, and when he was dying of cancer, Billy Jean King phoned him the night before he died and her last words to him were "I love you".
I'm kind of thinking that they could have spent 5 minutes at the end of the movie touching on the fact that the two of them had a really good relationship after that match.

It was essentially a giant ad for Royal Carribean.
I was on the exact same boat in November last year.
We would sit at the exact table they did for breakfast in the morning.
Movie was pretty Meh overall. Just found it interesting because of the scenery.
I quite liked Red Sparrow. Nothing groundbreaking for a spy thriller, maybe even a little predictable but entertaining. Lawrence and Edgerton didn’t have a ton of chemistry but given they are spies and the film wants to keep you guessing if their romance was real, it didn’t bother me much.
Geostorm was a special kind of awful. Like 2012, Day After Tomorrow and Olympus has Fallen all rolled into one. What happened to you Gerard Butler? When 300 came out it seemed like he’d be a huge action star. Now his name is a sure sign the movie is crap.
Battle of the Sexes was ok. Not great but not bad. What I liked is that they did a good job of framing the match between King and Riggs. Normally it is treated (by modern media usually) as some victory for women proving they can compete with men. In reality, Riggs was washed up and out of shape and had no business winning a single game. But that’s not what’s important and the movie doesn’t focus a lot on that aspect thankfully. Instead it focuses on King’s personal life and her accomplishments for women like pay equality, establishing the WTA and proving to POS Jack Kramer that women’s tennis can be entertaining even if they aren’t as good as men. It also avoided unnecessarily painting Riggs as an evil villain. He’s more like a caricature of chauvinism than an actual misogynist. Powerful men like Jack Kramer were the real villains.

Watched Tag. It was funny, expectedly dumb but a decent enough comedy.
Ready Player One was a whole lotta meh. Unsatisfying. Too obsessed with 80s pop culture references that I don’t care about and too thin on story. Uninteresting characters. CGI wasn’t bad, just not impressive enough to save a mediocre movie.
