So far I do find the built in ad block features of Brave work way better than any chrome or FF extension I've used in the past

On desktop I have used Brave for years. On mobile either Brave or Chrome.

Oh right, I forgot about that one as well. It was super annoying having to switch browsers every time I wanted to quote someone, so that's why I just stuck with Edge full time

There was some performance issue that led me to switch from Chrome to Chrome beta. I can't remember when that was or the specific reason/issue, but the beta version seems to work fine. I don't even know how much it differs from the regular Chrome.

Well, it's been a full week with Brave now and I think I'll keep using it going forward. Really like it. Just recommended it to a friend as well who was complaining about how resource hungry Chrome is now

Just downloaded and installed Brave. Super painless, instantly pulled in all my pws etc from Chrome. Blocks everything and is faster!

Not sure who mentioned Brave first, but thank you to everyone else that's been re-mentioning it. It seems pretty legit so far.

Has anyone had luck being able to get Firefox to cast to chromecasts? I've installed fx_cast however it isn't able to merge the audio with the video feed from live streams.

I'll stick with Chrome until they make ad blockers unusable.

I downloaded the previously unheard of Brave on my older Mac (2014?) cause I saw it mentioned here so many times. Night and freaking day difference in speed vs Chrome. And it imported all my bookmarks, extensions easily. I use a desktop so rarely now, I don't think I realized how painfully slow Chrome was.

Vivaldi can tile tabs which I think can be handy. I think being able to swipe between tiled pages on an ultrawide monitor could work well. Maybe even on just the laptop. Some of my chat apps like Slack and Teams do not need full pages so these can be tiled on one page. Something to play with.

Microsoft has now added ChatGPT integration to search in Bing. Most importantly, when you ask it a question and it gives you an answer in the chat window, it includes links back to the sources.

I basically never use Bing, but this could be a real game-changer for Microsoft, and the linking back to sources is a big step in resolving one of the biggest concerns about ChatGPT.

Been using the new Bing with ChatGPT 3.5 integration for a while now. I find I get longer and more in-depth answers about most topics from ChatGPT via OpenAI, and Bing can still provide incorrect info at times, but I've still found it's really useful for a lot of searches. Being connected to the web and being able to search up-to-date info using ChatGPT via Bing is a big advantage for some stuff over ChatGPT via OpenAI and over other regular search engines like Google. It's definitely replacing regular web searches for me for a lot of stuff.

I'm sure it's useful, but it won't change SFA in the search market.

Google Search isn't even really an internet indexer as it simply a paid ad finder.

Yep and if you talk with it long enough it will obsessively fall in love with you.

What are we getting ourselves into here?

Also typical naive response from Microsoft...

Microsoft said in its blog post Wednesday that it didn’t “fully envision” using the chatbot for “social entertainment” or talking to the bot for fun. It thanked users who were trying to get it to say wild stuff — “testing the limits and capabilities of the service” — and said it helped improve the product for everyone.

It no longer allows really long conversations. Each conversation is now limited to six questions/interactions from the user, then it forces you to wipe it clean.

It also now seems more regulated than ChatGPT with OpenAI in terms of the answers it gives.

AI mostly sucks still. Its use cases are extremely limited and of little value.

I always like to show labelerrors.com to anyone that thinks AI is going to take yer jobs.
